  1. one thing is for sure, whatever the nationality or country the new manager had previously been working in, the black box, will be throwing out names of players who have been playing in that country like confetti, by an amazing coincidence all of them will be long term targets that we've been monitoring closely for years.
  2. Hate to admit it but it would appear you're right. We've seen all this before several times now and as Eric B posted a couple of weeks ago to expect to see well brief articles regarding Liverpool in the media, well look at what we have here. Pretty obvious that we want to make it look like we've done all we can to keep him, demanded a big fee (which will be undisclosed) but at the end of the day the player wanted the move and forced it through yadda yadda. Same pattern time after time.
  3. So not joining Saints then.
  4. One thing we do have in our favour is that Tuchel will be use to large passionate home ends having been manager of Dortmund. He will no doubt be better equipped than most managers for the passion that cascades down the terrace of the chapel Kop. Although nothing can quite prepare you for the electric atmosphere inside the St Marys cauldron of bantz, Tuchel of all the managers in Europe he will probably be one who would be most used to it having experienced a more dumbed down version in the Westfalenstadion.
  5. Your words. "I expect Southampton to announce either an expansion of St Mary's or a relocation to a new stadium relatively soon." "Southampton won't be able to do any major work during the summer of 2015 as it hosting Rugby World Cup games. So given the planning application length and the length of construction we might see work over 2013 and 2014 perhaps?" Cortese was still here during 2013 and nothing happened.

Good thoughts, i agree with a lot of what you say and I agree that we have moved on as a society where racism practically doesn't exist anymore. A lot of these comes down to education from our parents like you say. I always felt I was fortunate to have two white, English parents. I always remember when the first black family moved onto our estate in the early 80s my parents encouraged us to be friendly towards them as some of them are nice people, to talk to them like they were our friends and when we learnt to trust them they could play football with us and that the black lad would probably make a really good winger but don't let him go in goal as they aren't very good there. We also should not expect him to come and play with us on a February morning as they don't like the cold weather. We became really good mates and even had nicknames for him like Sambo and milky and you knew what? he absolutely loved it! Having white, English parents was a great benefit for me because it really helped me appreciate their way of life and understand their strengths and weaknesses and what a great people they are.
  8. Did this ever start? https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?37346-St-Mary-s-What-we-might-expect-to-see-happen-(and-possibly-announced-soon)
  9. if only MLG would start a stadium expansion thread and I might be tempted to stump up a fiver again
  10. I've said before and i'll say it again, he did a decent job in L1 but his ego ran away with him once we got into the championship and he was out of control. He was an absolute c*nt as a bloke too, could be charming when he needed to be but an unhinged bully a lot of the time. As Eric B says, a few on here, myself included knew fair bit about what was going on behind the scenes when he was there and it wasn't pretty. He had to be got shot of before he did any more damaged. As for it's alright him running up debt to get us into the Premier league, well that isn't what he said he was going to do... "Clubs spend money they do not have; they spend next year’s income. They spend money that will not arrive for two years and say, "But we'll have some success and bring in more cash to cover the shortfall". It cannot be sustained. In good times you need to be saving money for the bad times. If we reach the Premier League, I would like to be in a position where we did not need parachute payments. In good years you should put money away for the bad years" Nicola Cortese March 2010 - The Times
  11. Roy Hodgeson.
  12. He'd be an excellent appointment IMO

    Travellers

I'm not sure what I should think about this one. Travellers generally don't like homosexuals in their communities so I should be against them, but then I remembers Muslims don't like gays either so I can't hate them for that reason. However they are white which means they're probably racist, but then again a lot of them aren't from English decent so that means I can't accuse the of this either. They are a minority group so I should embrace them and celebrate the contribution they've made to society, perhaps set up a traveller history month or music of traveller origins groups, when it comes to boxing and rearing dogs and horses these guys are second to none. I'd also like to encourage more travellers to get top jobs in business and industry as they are underrepresented in this fields. It's all dry confusing, as a fair minded, tolerant, left wing person can someone tell me what I should be thinking about this group of people?
  14. Surely Harry has unfinished business with this triffic football club?

    Boufal

He clearly had talent, remember that Sunderland game!
  16. Les Reed promoted to vice chairman, we'll deserved
  17. the clamour from some to get him in is quite odd. Okay he did a reasonable job at Hull keeping a dreadful squad in with a fighting chance of staying up, but ultimately he didn't and in their two most important games of the season lost 0-2 at home against one of the worst teams the premier league have ever seen and 4-0 away against a team two places above them. His previous record is pretty unremarkable. Whereas Puel despite being with three of our key players for half the season has taken us to a cup final and likely top half finish. Still one is of latin decent, looks good in a suit and has a good crop of hair, the other is a supposedly boring Frenchman who a lot of people didn't like from day one.
  18. You'll be hoping they win so they go above us Me, I hope Liverpool thrash them as want us to finish as high as possible Crack on with the spuds Casey
  19. I've not been on there for ages. Usually go on TUI, which used to be great but now full of helmets and Bangkok dave with his 55 logins.
  20. An hour and a half after the final whilst and only 34 posts. This forum certainly prefers a defeat to a win.

I think we should break the bank to get Paco Jemez in, why we didn't appoint him in the summer god only knows
  22. Or what a great job he's done to get players that bad to 10th and a cup final
  23. Judging by our fanbase it also causes obesity, stupidity and ugliness too.
  24. Indeed. The hipsters choice masterminding a 0-2 home defeat against one of the worst sides in premier league history, who are already relegated in one of the most crucial matches of the season. Snap him up.
  25. thought we needed another thread on this
