Not sure we can realistically get much more for someone with one year left on their contract and who won't sign another one. We got less than £10m for Clyne in the same situation, despite the homegrown premium. He (Clyne) is probably a £20m player in todays market. Surely won't get more than £15m for him so probably a similar fee to when we signed him despite his improvement and having demonstrated proven PL ability.

Jesus Perez, Pochettino, Shane Long's Agent and Paul Mitchell. Apparently Spurs watching Janssen and Saints were interested in Long a year before we got him so Mitchell will know his Agent well. Wonder who Ross Wilson was schmoozing tonight?

Agree. Would also be nigh on impossible to replace his goals, positional versatility and the general threat he brings.. If we were open to sell him I reckon at least 4 PL sides would want him - an indication of how good he is and can go on to be. One of few Saints players in the last 30 years who the crowd expect to do something when he gets on the ball, even just inside the opposition half. If we want to be a progressive side he is sort of player you keep another year even if his value drops slightly or you put your foot down and only allow him to go for silly money. Like Monaco did with Martial and Everton will likely do with Stones and Lukaku.

Tough going in the field so far.

Saints quoted €25m for Zaza. Would rather keep Pelle tbh! Fees for English teams are mad this summer so hopefully we get mega money for Mane if he did go.

Better to have a deal with a club where our young players would actually start each week than a name where they are a sub.

Don't see why not based on his goal record, potential, experience and relatively young age. He is a proven PL attacker who has troubled the very best defences and still has loads of improvement in him. I would be disappointed if he went for the same as Lallana and less than Luke Shaw. He is probably our best attacking player since MLT and we are 6th in the PL. No way should be selling for £25m.

Unfortunately Paul Joyce (along with Tony Barrett of The Times) is one of the more connected Liverpool journalists. Mane has to be closer to £40m though IMO.

Good interview. In this context the Koeman bit is fine IMO. Reed doesn't seem concerned. He seems relatively confident that it will be a "quiet" summer on outgoings which was interesting. European partnership an intruiging prospect!

Great to get a win in the first game we have had a sniff of one. Berg played in a 2nd XI T20 the other day so he may not be too far away.

They loan out the defenders for whom its harder to give first team football and the players who probably won't make it. None of JWP, Targett or Reed have gone on loan and they are the only three young players who are members of the first team squad really.

If they haven't been impressed with Koeman then that would be the biggest worry of all. Reed et al are sensible enough to know exactly how well he has done.

So we shouldn't believe the words you can clearly see Reed saying? Surely he has earned that respect? He says there are contract talks, Ron's new Agent says there are contract talks and Reed says there is only any point in involving the Agent in specific contract talks once Koeman is aligned to the future plans. Don't get the negativity?

But Reed clearly said there is no point having contract talks until Ronald is bought in. Then said there are ongoing contract talks.
