  1. Knowing Crook he probably had a discussion with Purslow's voicemail.
  2. Funny what the tabloids do with the same quotes as the broadsheets.
  3. Liverpool fans hated him.
  4. I don't get this theory. If he wants to come back with other parties, why leave in the first place? If KL didn't want to actually get rid of him and he didn't really want to leave then surely he could have continued in place whilst also brokering a takeover deal. That would have suited all involved. So you have to assume it isnt a option?
  5. So, this now becomes the next huge decision. Would imagine there will be no shortage of interest in this role, currently top half PL club role, should get some very good candidates. For me, it would be ideal to get someone who has some knowledge of football administration, especially given that we are in a transfer window, and generally the need to connect and reassure some players. I know Cortese didn't have football experience but he did have sporting knowledge through his previous Banking role. Besides, he had time to learn in a far less pressured environment. I would imagine the selection will give some indiciation as to KL's future plans. Hopefully an appointment that isn't too far away.
  6. Pochettino is the best thing to happen to Saints since the takeover. Brilliant Manager. Now he is most likely here til the end of the season we need to sort the future of the club out and hopefully he will want to stay longer.
  7. Be prepared for some wallyish questions from Journos that never usually attend Saints press conferences. All they will be bothered with is who is up for sale, not the future of the club.
  8. Squad is easily worth 100m, probs more like 125-150.
  9. Lambert speculation is odd. He is more likely to start for us than them. They have just re-signed Cole, will also sign Traore and have Carroll fit.
  10. Why? If I was Shaw's agent and I am committing to a 5 year contract, it would surely make sense to insert a number of clauses of which this could have been one. Certainly not too farfetched and would IMO be sensible from his advisor.
  11. Who was back? Wanyama?
  12. For some reason there are still a few here who think it will all be ok. We are now at the start of a downward curve, hopefully not as quick as the route up was.
  13. Was definitely mentioned in one article (can't remember where from) a few months back that Shaw's new deal was tied to Cortese remaining at the club, i.e he had a getout clause of some sort if NC left. I think people will start to realise over the coming period that he was much more than one paid employee. Easy enough to say that players who don't want to be here can leave, but ultimately, its nice watching good players playing well and having a decent team.
  14. Just disappointed if the squad is affected. Its one of the best we have ever had. At stage though nobody really knows.
  15. Its not about selling for peanuts, its about selling full stop. Cortese would have resisted all offers and only sold when he absolutely had to, and for monster fees. If KL gets semi decent offers for players its hard to see her turning them down for sporting reasons. Of course she wouldnt sell all the players, but if she accepted say 15m for Lallana and £20m for Shaw, you couldnt really blame her for financial reasons. The whole player exit scenario is fuelled by the current uncertainty. If a CL club shows any interest in any of our players this window, their agents will be straight on to make it happen because the driving force behind the club is no longer there, we currently have no leader. And once you have a few key players who dont want to be there then it will never be a good thing. I can understand people wondering if players are that bothered etc, but remember it is their career and we know most of our better players could fairly easily attract better and bigger clubs. Next season our squad will be significantly weaker you would have to assume at this stage.
  16. Adam Blackmore just on 5Live. Said he spoke to a senior player last night who said the players just want to know what is going on. Obviously disappointed NC has gone, but in a good league position and want the Manager to say he will stay. Would have to think there will be a player mutiny if MP were to leave too.
  17. Lets be honest, this whole fiasco is a huge **** up and what every happens now has surely undone (in a day) pretty much all of the progress made this season. Perhaps some good will somehow come out of it, but its hard to see what.
  18. Once players chased by high profile teams willing to pay big money decide they want to leave then its almost impossible to keep them. They wanted to stay under NC as saw the progress being made. Now? Who knows.
  19. Couldnt blame the players for thinking its the end of an era really.
  20. If Lambert went for 7m or even Shaw for 20 odd it would be ok. Lallana would be the killer.
  21. Most Liverpool fans think Purslow is a joke, no?
  22. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/southampton-face-mauricio-pochettino-exit-3026437 Does seem odd timing. Also odd that KL would be set to sell virtually ever pro at the club judging by this! Journalists in a frenzy as much as us.
  23. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2540112/Southampton-accept-resignation-chairman-Nicola-Cortese-manager-Mauricio-Pochettino-close-following.html
  24. There is no loyalty in football anymore, virtually none anyway. What I do know is that as Manager of this team Pochettino works bloody hard to make us a better team, and in my lifetime of over 25 years is our best Manager. Would be gutting to lose him as well. The club (fans aside) ripped apart in the space of a few days...
  25. Couldn't blame the players for being majorly hacked off if MP does go. Many of them have improved under him, and seem to have very close relationships with him. That could be a reason for him wanting to stay, but as he said before NC was the club to him almost.
