Agree, to finish sixth I reckon we would need to win at least 4 of our last 5 and with City, Spurs and a trip to our nemesis Goodison it isn't going to happen. Going on a run of 8 losses in 10 at any point isn't going to land you top 6 finishes.

JWP was all over the place in almost every element on Saturday. If ever there is a player that does most of his talking off the pitch it is him unfortunately.
-
Up to you I guess.

Walker and Rose utilised so well by Spurs. Makes such a big difference when the FBs have pace to bomb forward and are a threat around the box.

Whats the point of Davie Provan?

Lascelles did look decent I thought. Taylor is a Geordie and an experienced player so can see why in theory he would start, especially as Coloccini is injured. Problem is just that he is really poor. Definitely think CB is an area we can strengthen. We are lucky Fonte and VVD have stayed fit. Yoshida isn't good enough if he had to start 20+ league games and Gardos is a fourth choice.

It was odd after last year that we didn't look to improve the batting lineup. In fact, with 3 no 11s in this game we have weakened it.

They are a dying commodity because there is so much content online.

He said the Doc had mentioned "meniscus". That potentially could need a small clean up operation.
-
JWP needs to develop his game to offer more than set plays otherwise he will just remain a sub option later in games.
-
Clasie has attributes JWP doesn't and will never have: tenacity & desire to win duels being the obvious ones.
-
It was an odd sub in terms of the attributes we added and lost, but don't think Long was totally on it today. Koeman said he felt dizzy second half and he wasn't as good on the ball as he has been of late. JWP was absolutely anonymous when he came on - in hindsight it would possibly have been good to swap Jay for Long and keep them pushed back.
-
Pelle has scored or assisted 7 of our last 8 goals so he is doing fine. We played really well first half, aided by a woeful Newcastle and especially Steven Taylor who was as bad as Mike Williamson the last couple of years. Shane put in a trademark Long performance- running was good and he got a nice goal but his touch also let him down at times and we could have scored more. Thought Wanyama (excellent) and Clasie (improved from last few games) bossed the midfield despite being outnumbered. Great to see Jay back too and he looked sharp. Only negative was the total non-performance of JWP when he came on (that sub gave them a bit of initiative for 15mins as we had nobody running in behind). Koeman said after that Austin might have a meniscus injury which is a blow if he ends up needing surgery. It hasn't happened for him after that dream debut goal.
-
I actually thought he was much better today than of late.

I don't agree. They are all deep lying midfielders and lack the mobility needed to play further forward. If a midfielder comes in for Davis it will be JWP.

I thought Kevan James asked some really weird questions like the Afridi captaincy stuff and that didn't help. To be fair, in a way its better to not have audience questions as like in the Saints forums, they are usually rambling and ****e.

Tadanari Lee - most overrated Saints player ever?

Every time. Has bags of potential and cuts through defences like a samurai. -

RonK is too obsessed with Pelle to even notice Chung unfortunately. -
One more injury to either Edwards, Topley or McLaren and the seam bowling would look very weak. Will make it tough for them to rest Topley when the ECB request it as there isn't really anyone to come in. The Berg injury was a big blow.

Chungy is just never fit but has a great attitude and is a lovely lad. Didn't see him in the training pics again yesterday though. Has he even made an appearance under RonK? -
He is a good football man.

If they sit back and then we score they will just change their game plan. They will want to be in the game after 70mins with a chance to win. I don't seem them being overly gung ho and giving us space to play. We have struggled against sides that sit back and lack pace in central midfield to combat counters so sure thats what they will try to do.
-
Why will they? Surely they are better off doing what Sunderland did, frustrsting the crowd, not giving us space, nicking a goal and then trying to defend it?
-
In that case, will he ever actually make it as a first teamer for us? He isn't going to want to sit around without playing for much longer. In hindsight a season long loan move would have been the best option for him this season surely?
