Long has only scored 8 PL goals which, whilst he has been excellent since December, rules him out of winning the main prize for me. He just isn't quite clinical enough. It has to be Van Dijk by a mile. After him and Long it is hard to make a convincing case for anyone, especially in midfield. That shows that it has been a strange season. Last year probably 5 players could have had genuine claims. Van Dijk has been classy, consistent and has settled from day one unlike all our other signings from last summer. None of the others would make many top 5s even. Also has played every minute in the league since he joined I think.

What a cluster**** of a season so far! Unfortunately the only lesson learned from last year seems to be that you can be uncompetitive for most of the season and miraculously stay up.

Definitely need to be looking at seamer reinforcements. Edwards isn't available for all the games either.

Pretty poor show if after signing two RBs in the previous summer window we need another one this time. Recruitment is the key. We had a massive chance this season to get a top 4 place, certainly top 6. But ultimately last summer was average at best. Only VVD has been a total success and which when you sign 7 or 8 players is a poor ratio. Hopefully Wilson does a better job this time around.

Might have to for the next match. Wood has gone off mid-over with a knee injury which is a shame as he has had a history of knee troubles unfortunately. Pace options looking sparse two games into the season.

United are already 5 points ahead of us, we won't catch them. West Ham have a much easier set of games than us, plus an additional game which is more than winnable for them. We will need to win 4/4 games to have a chance and even then will need them to drop points. Plus Liverpool will surely now finish above us too. I'm not overly fussed about EL but you have to say its a lot more likely we won't qualify than we will.

West Ham have a very kind set of fixtures unfortunately.

We need 12 most likely because other all have games in hand and relatively easy fixtures. We have a very slim chance, yesterday was a must win and we didn't.

Same line up as the last two games if possible. I think Everton was more must win than this. Look at the table, who exactly are we going to overtake? Liverpool will come past us with their games in hand and West Ham will surely do enough in their easyish remaining games to stay ahead. Important to win to stay ahead of Stoke and Chelsea but Europa League was gone after we didn't beat Everton IMO.
