  1. Apart from the ones who have featured there isn't anyone in this team who is anywhere near the first team reckoning is there? Jones looks promising but none of Sims, Little, Gape, Hesketh etc are going to be PL players.
  2. Yaya Toure likely to be missing through injury.
  3. The massive difference between Romeu and Schnedierlin is agility, athleticism and ability to cover ground for 90mins. Romeu is a good player but different attributes.
  4. Best has now signed on a short term deal. #leftfield
  5. He hasn't been injured since late October really. If you feel that he has had a "poorish season" you can't blame that on a 2 month injury right at the start.
  6. http://africanfootball.com//news/626226/SouthamptonWest-Ham-join-Palace-in-Iorfa-chase
  7. Romeu is slow to turn and recover. That is why I think. Wanyama and Romeu together isn't agile enough. Agility and athleticism is the missing variable whoever plays IMO.
  8. He clearly took a heavy knock about 5mins before the end of the first half. Looked like his ankle. Koeman always says Wanyama is "normally a starting player" and its obvious why: he is (by a distance) the best defensive midfielder we have
  9. I would be suprised if his next job after Saints is for anyone other than a PL team. He probably knows that for a shot at Barca he would need more of a European record which he could get with a bigger PL team. Doubt he is bothered by any other leagues at this stage and its not the right time for the NL job.
  10. Pelle must be in contention to start at home given his record at SMS.
  11. Couldn't see it myself... @riccosrant: Southampton's Ronald Koeman well liked by the Everton hierarchy if they pull the plug on under pressure Roberto Martinez. FYI he is a Journalist who is often on Sunday Supplement.
  12. A player in the style of Dembele would be ideal: strong, mobile, energetic, but also creative in passing and movement. Not many around though in our budget.
  13. Its only ruled out if the officials realise it is offside. If it is offside then it is offside. Aguero vs Newcastle was offside. It wasn't given but it was 100% factually offside.
  14. Clasie isn't anything like box to box. He sits (very) deep and takes the ball off the back four and starts attacks. Or he drops in and fills the gap left by VVD when he brings the ball out. I can't recall a time in open play he has been near the opponents box and made a telling impact.
  15. For me Romeu and Clasie as a pairing isn't athletic enough and is very easy to counter. Incidentally we have conceded the most counter attack goals this season. I think Romeu and Clasie are very different players but about the same standard. I think we need a more energetic box to box type midfielder to go alongside one of them. Gana for Villa yesterday looked ok in a very poor team. Clasie has been a disappointment for me. Thought he would be more creative with his passing and more positive with his movement but he still seems quite tentative. He presses well but is also easy for opponents to leave for dead and he doesn't really provide any "protection" for the back four. Wanyama, Schneiderlin and Davis just worked, with a range of the needed attributes. I don't think either Romeu or Clasie have replaced Morgan's energy and agility.
  16. Would hope no less than £30m. He has been a bit up and down this season but has so much potential, scores goals, can play in different positions and beats defenders with ease. There is an ACON next season which may potentially put off prospective buyers.
  17. The article apprared to suggest he had been offered to a few teams of which WH was one. They probably won't want him to go to a "direct" rival.
  18. I remember Clyne being pretty good from when he first joined. Certainly wasn't poor, although he obviously improved during him time with us. Fans were very pleased with him early on but realised he was playing in a defence with a poor left back and left sided CB and an out of his depth goalkeeper. He certainly added a lot in attack from the very start. Also worth remembering he was a lot more inexperienced than Cedric who joined aged few years older and with International and European experience.
  19. I just said he is timid and attackers dominate him quite easily like the first goal yesterday after which VVD was going nuts at him. Think thats a perfectly valid opinion and nothing to do with whether I "like" him or not.
  20. No. What an odd OP!
  21. We have much better options in midfield going forward than Cedric!
  22. Not a complaint. Just saying we showed again that we need a lot of chances to score. Anyone else who was there will back that up, some pretty careless play around the box. Their goal just before HT should have made it 4-1.
  23. Has anyone responded to the guy who asked why Vardy is at Leicester?
  24. Read my post. Which bits do you actually disagree with? Its not about liking someone or not.
  25. He was very popr today aside from one cross. Seems too timid, and easy for opponents to intimidate. Really need a new right back this summer which is mental after getting two last summer. We clearly had a penchant last summer for signings players who lack the physical attributes needed to flourish in the PL.
