We went for the cups seriously this year and last. Just bottled the big games against Sheff Utd and Liverpool. You can't really go more seriously than he has team selection wise.
-
Our defence away is good but if we scored even the PL average number of goals away then we would be top 6 easily. We have only scored more than one goal in TWO away league games (Stoke and Chelsea) FFS. A team with the 3rd best away defensive record shouldn't have the 13th best overall away record! Leicester have conceded the same no of away goals as us but have 11 wins away to our 5.
-
5 or 6 away wins being "reasonable enough" is dependent upon what you want to achieve. Bournemouth have 6 away wins and if you want to just stay up you are delighted with that. We have 5 and yet wanted a European place. We have the 6th best home record. If we also had the 6th best away record it would have got us a European place. Our one biggest flaw is we don't score enough away from home when we dominate and the stats show that clearly with only relegation candidates and WBA scoring fewer away goals. Games like West Ham and Everton spring to mind in addition to those we failed to score in against poor sides.
-
We are 13th in the away league table so obviously not good enough for a European place unless our home form was utterly brilliant. Below Bournemouth incidentally. 5th lowest away scorers and 3 of those teams are in the bottom 3. WBA the 4 lowest. By contrast, 6th in the home table. Away form is what cost a European place and not scoring against the likes of Watford, WBA, Norwich, Bournemouth, Palace etc who are in the bottom third of the home table is quite disappointing IMO.

Wenger won't be sacked. He said today he will aee out his contract. Incidentally that coincides with Ronald seeing out his if they are actually are keen.

We weren't good enough away from home over the season to capitalise. Watford, WBA, Palace, Norwich, Bournemouth, Arsenal, Leicester. All away league games we failed to score in. Got to be winning a few of those really if you want a European place.
-
It already happened when we didn't beat Everton. 8th the best we can get IMO and that is a fair reflection of where we are (if a little generous even) this season.

Edwards has an ankle injury according to Solent. Could be out for up to 2 months according to early estimates. Horrendous luck with injury. He was injured during the pre match football warm up. Edit: Apparently it actually wasnt during the footy.

If we don't win this we might possibly finish 9th.

Reckon two Journalists just make up rumours then and happen to print the same rumour on the same day? Without anyone feeding the info to them (regardless of the validity of the source)?
-
How do you think football transfer stories, both speculative, made up and truthful get into the paper/on Sky etc without someone, somewhere, in some role, being up to something?
-
Great effort so far today. A draw still a possibility if we can bat out most of today for this first innings.
-
What is conspiracy about that post? Its just how stories get into the media isn't it, someone needs a message out there for whatever reason. If nobody fed it to them, then two Journos wouldnt end up with the same story on the same day. Doesn't mean its true, just that someone wants that in the public domain. Do you disagree ALWAYS_SFC? I don't think Forster will go anywhere this summer anyway.
-
Plus the Mirror go through transfer targets in rapid fashion. Wanyama was Arsenal's nailed on summer signing a few weeks ago, two articles a week on it. Now he doesn't get a mention. I'm sure a few clubs would be keen on Forster but as you say lots would need to fall into place first.
-
Isn't the idea that your POTS is the player who has been best in the season, rather than a sympathy vote? I bet Messi and Ronaldo are glad you don't run the Balon d'Or.
-
Indeed whenever two papers put the story out on the same night they have obviously been prepped by someone. Either Forster's Agent trying to get him a better new contract, Chelsea trying to force the hand of whoever they are interested in, or there is some truth to it.

He is Burley Mk II IMO.

Yep. Dier also a very astute purchase. Resurgence of Dembele also a massive factor.

If getting "on a good run at the right time" is a good run for the whole season then the Manager must be doing something right.
-
But they do have Kane. He has been superb under Pochettino. As have many others who were average before: Rose, Lamela etc.
-
Its nothing original but still a valid point surely? Interesting that little credit is given to Cortese (and Reed) for bringing him to English football when he was far lesser known. I also think pointing out how good he is still offends some on here who thouggr he would be fired by Christmas at the hands of Levy. It was obvious to me the guy would do good things at Spurs. Ralph seemed to indicate he was nothing special (although probably knew by then he was gone). If he actually thought that genuinely then he was very wrong.
-
Hope Ralph is watching tonight: he told me and another forum member at the Player Awards 2014 that he thought the role of the Manager was overhyped in football when the topic of Pochettino was discussed. Thought it was a baffling comment at the time.
