The key to this for me is to make sure that whatever deal gets done it is a very, very good one for us. We didn't make the most of the Walcott and Bale deals so should learn, and I am sure if (when) we do sell AOC then Cortese will drive a good deal for us. £10m up front, 5m in installments, 25% sell on, first refusal on loan players from that team for the next two seasons and AOC on loan next season. Otherwise no deal, we are in the strong position, we don't need the money and he has 2 years left on his contract. If anyone says he isn't worth that much then why are Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea etc all watching him. Not many FL players attract that amount of attention. If they won't do a good deal then we can gladly keep him.

I interpreted it as Adkins saying Puncheon wants to leave and isn't really committed to Saints, and that Adkins only wants players who want to be part of our (bus) journey - simple as that.

He is lucky that he has an honest and hardworking group of professional footballers.

Certainly the right man - and that is a great feeling to have. I love his enthusiasm for Saints, we are a good club and its nice to have a Manager that sees that. Hopefully a few more deals to help him out but I trust him 100%, he will take us up this year IMO. Onwards and upwards. COYR.

I thought Schneiderlin had his best game for ages. Lallana quality as ever, could easily have been 7 or 8.

Guly may have missed some chances but his link play around the box was good. Chamberlain's best game for us I reckon - everyone will want him. Best moment apart from the goals: Jaidi's backheel...class!

Plus one. With Cortese at the helm I think Prem by 2014 is realistic.

Adkins is just clever in that he gives very little away. Doesn't go overboard when we win or too down when we lose.
