Why Markus Liebherr should buy Portsmouth Football Club
moonraker replied to SaintBobby's topic in The Saints
The snow must be fuddling folks brains, as a piece of light humour i thought it was one of the best posts about the demise and future of our once Great Neighbours, no nastiness just a good old fashioned pxss take. -
I have a few mates who are Gasheads and they certianly rate Lines and would be upset to loose him. Pardew and his advisors will have done their homework on this guy if they believe he can add to the squad then I trust him, how many of tose saying he will not bring anything have watched him more that twice?

Cant be there today due to unneccesary but diplomatically important family stuff!!! Absouloutly gutted, am sure we will bow out of 2009 with bang, play the strongest team and send a message to all those above us, we are heading for the playoffs. Happy New Year to all on the board, the nipper and I will be back at SMs for the Luton game.

Interesting how once previous opponents of the detterent get responsibilty for our security they quickly understand its purpose and importance! As for ensuring a seat at the UN security council yes it certainly does and I for one am glad we have that seat, not for post imperilaist posturing tough. I happen to believe my country has a useful contribution to make, you cant alter history, neither should we be apologists for it. By your logic only the "super powers" would have a seat, sound like a plan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whilst you cant prove a negative, there have been no nuclear engagements since guaranteed mutual destruction courtesy of SSBNs, do you want to take the risk??? The real relic the armed forces are paying for are the RAFs Air Defence Fighters, to complex to expensive and to many of them, prediction on the Battle of Britain anyone!!!

Ron wishing you a very happy Christmas and a wonderfull 2010

Planning applications and all related documents have to be made public including their source hence the name and address. If the address were hidden think of the PO post code conclusions that would be drawn as to the source of the objections. This lady whilst obviously a NIMBY she is very close to the development and is exercising her democratic right. It won’t do her any good, the planning officers report recognises quite clearly there are no grounds for refusal. Have to say I am very impressed with the qulity of design, it is a very positive statement of intent by Sir Markus.

Cant see this anywhere else, last nights Sorry I Haven’t a Clue was from Chichester, with Jack Dee as the guest QM, he opened by stating that the Chichester area was the first landfall for Homo Sapiens in the British isles and that there was living evidence of them breeding with the indigenous neandertals, P****mouth being the best place to see evidence of this.

They also voted for a guy dressed in a monkey suit as mayor, plus there is a statue of the monkey in the centre of the town, theyve got a sense of humour. Oh and get in Rikieeeeeeeeeee

My sincerest condolences to Ron, he gave me some of the greatest pleasure and thrills I have ever had watching the Mighty Saints, he can be sure that his freinds will be there for him if he needs us.

Complete and utter codswollop, and I dont vote Labour, neither do I read the Daily Mail/Express. Slobs on benfits dont bother voting unfortunate individulas who are struggling just might.

This is the key point, people are turning to the Tories simply for a change. There record on all the things that matter is atrocious, education, health and defence. DD started this thread and as member of Her Majesties Royal Navy he should study the Tory defence plans of the early 80’s, to reduce it to a coastal defence force (only prevented because of the Falklands). The order for failed SF Chinooks the aborted Nimrod AWE's was on the Tory watch, they were the first Gov of modern times to make members of the armed forces redundant, and they reduced the military capability with no true plan as soon as the Berlin Wall came down. Whilst this Gov has not provided all that is needed by the armed forces it the Tories record does not give me any confidence that they that David and his utterly incompetent Shadow Defence Minister will do it better.

A very satisfyingresult, the mighty Saints are on the move and its upwards.

Rovers have been singing it for 50 years adapted from a Leadbelly song We're loyal supporters, We're faithful and true, We always follow, The boys in blue We all made a promise, That we'll never part, So Goodnight Irene, Goodnight Irene, I'll see you in my dreams... ... Irene Goodnight Irene, Irene Goodnight, Goodnight Irene, Goodnight Irene, I'll see you in my dreams I think it is one of the best club anthems, it basically says we fans put the club first, a sentiment most on here would endorse.

Turning the good ship saints round was never going to happen overnight thankfully we have a Captain with a level head and and a focus on the long term future. We long suffering fans live form game to game needing the high that good perfomances and wins bring, when they are in short supply it really gets to you. Stay on course NC and guide us back to the top.

Rovers have great away support, as a proportion of their average home gates they are rated the best in England. For the Div 4 (League 2) play off final they sold over 35000 tickets.

I take it your not old enough to remember Thatchers Britain!

Agree with the general sentiment, a resonably good performance wte of Saga who was totally uninterested. For me Murty, Harding, Patterson and Kelvin had vg games. We must get a dominant midfileder and a striker.

One reference demonstrates your ignorance of a great game, "Rugby Union played and supported almost exclusively by the upper & middle classes" you have obviously never been to many, if any rugby matches, try Gloucetser v Bath espeicially in the shed at Kingsholm or any Welsh game. As to the impact on the pitch I expect 2 games so it wont even notice. This is good news it can only raise the clubs profile.

I really like this idea, it has two great advantages; for those of us who are unable to get to enough matches to justify a season ticket it means we pay up front , its money in the bank for the club and secondly it would provide additioanal motivation (as if any should be needed) to attend games wahtever the current performance. As I commented on the membership thread having something in my pocket that says 'yes I am a commited saints supporter' is important to me and this idea is at least one step up from memberships.
