Isn't he another one who prefers 3 centre backs to get in each others way and leave all responsibility to each other? Think the formation will look very familiar tonight so not holding out much hope for us.
-
Is he? That's a shock.
-
If you are referring to his interview on the official site I don't think he commented on the starting line up - it was more about player availability. Having said that I don't think he'll do anything radical for this match. More of the 3 at the back and wing backs who actually play as conventional full backs. Maybe he'll surprise me but I doubt it.
-
Now I get why we've only won once at home in over a year.
-
Maybe things will slightly improve because rather than spending crazy amounts on rubbish they'll be spending small amounts on rubbish 🙂
-
Maybe he's considered competent enough to manage the side but not to attend a press conference and answer a few simple questions 🙂
-
Maybe sign 3 or 4 powerful Turks.

Sunderland recruited the right sort of players to compete in the Premier League and it has clearly worked for them so far. Until we start recruiting in a similar fashion we'll never survive among the elite. Men against boys springs to mind.

It will be very interesting to see whether there is a notable increase in tempo and effort from the selected team. I'm expecting there will be which will be damning for those it applies to. As to the team I expect to see Captain Jack start in a back 3 though neither picking Stephens or the formation would be my preferred choices. Think the starting 11 will be; Macca Mads Stephens Wood THB Manning Downes Jander AA Scienza Fellows Have a feeling he might try Scienza through the middle. Score prediction 1-0 to QPR in a scrappy affair of few chances.

Nail hit firmly on the head. Sure, managers haven't been up to scratch but some of the senior players have acted like petulant kids and it seems AA has admitted they didn't give 100% for Will Still. Weed out the bad apples asap to get rid of the toxic culture that permeates the squad and is sucking the life out of it. These lot will be the first to get all pally pally with the new manager so we need someone who is experienced enough to see through the blaggers.

This is the reality of it. We continue to need rebuilding but if we just keep signing the type of players we do it will never work. The mix has to be spot on and we remain miles away from having a well balanced squad. We should be learning from the likes of Bournemouth, Palace, Brentford and even Sunderland who are all getting it right.
-
Would prefer it if we get someone in who builds us into a decent team and shifts us up the table to a respectable position then we strengthen next summer ready for a more measured and structured push for promotion next season. This season has been wasted and we now need to make a start on repairing the damage.
-
With all due respect he sounds totally out of our league and not someone SR would even think about. Far too knowledgeable.
-
Haven't read it but, according to Ugly Inside, there is an article in the Echo quoting AA as saying the players haven't been giving 100% because they didn't like Will Still and his methods. Anyone read it? For our captain to say this publicly is pretty disgraceful as is not giving 100%. Whatever the player views on the manager they should never give less than 100% for the football club and the fans. If we've been losing games through a lack of effort that's pretty damning if true.

Ok, so he saw through Russball and twigged that a high press would win the ball in dangerous areas and lead to goals. Not exactly rocket science was it.
-
I don't think we're going to give up. We'll fight against the threat of relegation as hard as we can.
-
Might show us which of the wasters (if any) wasn't putting in a full shift for Will Still.
-
If that were true (which I doubt) it would be like asking Martin to pay us £5-£8m to come and be our manager. Even he wouldn't do that.
-
Has he had a leg amputated then?
-
When we stop playing 3 at the back with 2 wing backs who are really just full backs. Add the keeper and a defensive midfielder and that's 7 players out of 11 playing defensively. Hard for the creators to shine in that sort of set up.
-
Spot on.
-
Too small a number of games and now he's gone - my gut tells me his decision would have been validated. Also I've seen Stephens play.
-
Anyone know what time Russboy's presser for the QPR game is?
-
Haven't you heard....there's a sucker born every minute. Snake oil sales is big business.
-
Statistics would indicate he made the tea.
