I am loathe to accuse the FA of mischief-making in their decision to deal with Tonda during the international break. However, it has to be said that they have chosen a time when the case will again receive massive media scrutiny because, with little or no league football, there will be nothing for the journos and pundits to get their teeth into. Hence, Spygate will be front and centre in newspapers, MSM, Sky Sports and any other outlets reporting on football. I don't believe in coincidences myself 🙂

Birmingham was a decent result. Watford and Lincoln should have been 6 points but we got our tactics totally wrong.

Away performances have not been up to scratch. I think we are showing teams more respect than we need to which is resulting in the clear disparity performance wise between home and away games. We had Jander missing again and Downes struggling after a knock in the first minute yet still won 4-1.

Let's not forget, as Tonda said, Downes was injured from pretty much the first minute or two which hampered him. Plus, it wasn't as one sided as many allude to - we scored one in the first half and could have had a couple more through Matsuki who had a good shot well saved and Larin probably should have got on the end of a pass but missed it. People go on about Ballard but Matsuki showed him how to finish with a cool head. Brizzle should have been down to ten so for me a well deserved 4-1 win especially as we had a tough mid-week game.

Our issue is that we are very much reliant on keeping Larin free from injuries, fatigue or suspensions at least until January unless we have a free agent in mind. The fact that there are two international breaks may help us get through to the start of the Jan window. However, we need to have options in mind and act quickly once the next transfer window opens so that we can get a signing or loan in early rather than right at the end which would lose us another 4 weeks.

Whether it was a penalty or not I'm not sure. However, Leo does himself no favours by continuously going down far too easily at the slightest touch. This now goes against him because referees take the view that he's diving again so he will only ever get really blatant penalty decisions.

Would like to see what Zack Abbott is capable of because he can play either centre back or right back. I guess Tonda will be closely monitoring him in training and give him some minutes when he feels he's ready. The lad comes with bags of potential judging by the comments from Forest fans. It would be brilliant if he turns out to be the perfect partner for Schlotterbeck and as cover for Bree. That would leave just Larin as the only first teamer we don't have adequate cover for so we'll either have to work some magic in the free agent market or wait until the Jan window opens which is a gamble.
