I'm not only talking about height - the players you list are all fairly weak in upper body strength and easily knocked off the ball. Come on, you can't seriously call Downs a physical player. He may be 6'4 but that doesn't matter because he has zero physical power. Just watched Liverpool Villa and there were real big, strong athletes in both teams all over the pitch not just at centre back. We must start to address this or we'll continue not to compete.

SR deserve to lose a generation of supporters and more and that's what they'll do unless something is done to remove them from our club. Even seasoned fans have had enough so why would anyone expect youngsters to follow this shit show of a football club. There is absolutely nothing to like about the club right now and the future looks bleak with these idiots in charge.
-
This is a major issue that continues to be overlooked.
-
What I cannot believe is the fact that Spors saw enough to decide that he'd be a good signing for us and that we paid any money for him.
-
We'll never rebuild successfully under SR.
-
It'll take more than a new manager to turn this floundering oil tanker around. The January window is about all that can save us from another relegation because this squad is completely disjointed and looks as though it's been assembled by people who have no clue about football - which is actually what it is. We need a minimum 4 good signings who can walk straight into the side in early January. Unfortunately that aint gonna happen and if it did the same idiots would be making the signings.
-
Unfortunately we are waiting for a decision to be made by Sports Fucking Republic and we know how incompetent they are.
-
Check his stats last season when playing for a Boro team utilising his talents. Chalk and cheese to what we're seeing.
-
3 centre backs anybody?
-
I was pointing out the reason why rather than disagreeing with you.
-
I get your point but that's putting the cart before the horse. Until SR are gone they will continue making the wrong decisions which will include appointing a replacement for Will Still. It's tantamount tp applying a sticking plaster when a triple bypass is needed.
-
It's very hard to press in numbers if you have 5 deep lying defenders (forget the fraudulent concept of wingbacks). With the keeper that is six players mainly operating in their own half so how do you operate a press with four players one of who has defensive duties as a midfielder? It's impossible.
-
Unfortunately SR do not want someone to come in and throw a grenade into their cushy little existence. That's how they operate and seeing as they do the choosing safe to say Pullis won't be on any short list they draw up. Not saying I disagree with your idea by the way as it needs someone with balls to come in and take a wrecking ball to the complacency.
-
Aint that the truth.
-
Yeah they're human beings on salaries the rest of us can only dream about so if they can't take abuse from the paying customers who have been served up victories rarer than rocking horse shit maybe the little flowers are in the wrong game. Stand up and be counted rather than ranting at those who help pay for your mansions, big cars and designer gear.

I'm not advocating that he stays - I'm saying he is not the major problem that has led this club to where it now stands. Clearly that is all down to SR and until they go nothing will change. They will continue to appoint poor managers and sign the wrong players. We need a big influx of football knowledge involving people capable of building a squad of players fit for the modern game which is fast paced, relentless and takes no prisoners. As a guide look at the likes of Bournemouth, Brentford, Palace and even Sunderland - ok we won't have the kudos to sign the quality players they can at this moment in time but we have to build in some strength, pace, power and athleticism alongside the skills. Do that and gradually we'll develop a squad which can compete and get stronger but right now we are weak as piss all over the park.
-
Hope he is but he can't keep fiddling while Southampton FC burns to the ground.
-
Sack him fine but we'll only be putting a tiny sticking plaster over the problem which is and always has been SR. Time for major surgery because the patient is dying and a sticking plaster won't do what's needed.
-
Needs to grow a pair and wake up to the fact that SR are a bunch of frauds and bin off the lot of them and bring in new people who know about football. Get them out and set up a new company with a different name to run this club and get it moving in the right direction. I don't know the legalities of Solak doing this but if he can't he was mad to get involved without being able to sack underperformers while they piss his money away, ruin this club and hack off all the fans. Something major needs to be done not just sacking Still.
-
He's a good player and will prove it again if we sell him. The fact that we are so badly set up on matchdays is hardly his fault. We bought a good player but so far haven't utilised him to the best of his ability.
-
Better still Sport Republic just get out of my fucking club now!
-
He wasn't and he isn't.
-
Outrageous behaviour. Totally unprofessional. Get rid in January.
-
I know it's bad but this isn't a fact is it?
-
To be frank he's brought this on himself and the 3 centre backs is what has done for him because it totally screws the team up. Firstly we don't have players who know how to play the wing back role properly. It leaves us with too many defenders who don't act as a unit and get in each others way while they aimlessly pass the ball amongst themselves because there are too many of them. It leaves us a body light in midfield which makes us easy to attack and makes it hard for us to develop attacks of our own. In short it's a disaster but he stuck with it for far too many games thereby negating the good attributes of players like Fellows and Azaz. I wanted to give him a chance but have run out of patience with him.
