Signing a rubbish 3rd choice keeper and hoping he never plays sounds like a pretty risky strategy to me. Surely there are better options out there who, if called upon, could be expected to do a reasonable job.

I can't recall but I'm assuming Lumley wanted a higher role so asked for a move. He is number two at Bristol City.

Then they'd have to explain to Dragan why McCarthy is on massive wages but has been demoted to 3rd choice. It's a face saving exercise.

SR has been an unmitigated disaster from the first day they took charge. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that they will suddenly morph into a management/executive group who have a clue how to run a successful football club. They stumble from one crisis to another and spout meaningless platitudes to keep the fans happy but, in truth, not one of those responsible for running the club fills me with any confidence. Maybe they are all in the wrong industry because that's how it comes across. Total incompetence again and again as we slide further into oblivion.

I'm guessing they figure we're paying McCarthy big bucks to be number two to Bazunu so why bring in someone who might push him out to number three.

Presume Spors is bobbing about on a yacht somewhere in the Med supping Champagne 🙂

Who actually watches these players and decides they are what we need? Surely if you watched someone like Sugawara for a few games you'd spot his deficiencies which, as we've seen, are glaringly obvious.

Well, who would ask Gilly to be his assistant coach other than Russell Martin? Russboy is currently the meal ticket for these guys though I can't see that lasting much longer as the snake-oil routine is wearing very thin now.

I think Downs needs months at the very least.

I'd like to hope they have a number of deals in place waiting for the Dibling money to be available plus whatever we get for Fernandes who, if he is going, gets transferred early this week rather than it dragging on leaving us little time to recruit. This is a massive 8 days for the club and, for once, they need to get it right. Can't say they give me loads of confidence but fingers crossed.

Wouldn't want Harrison Reed. Another midfielder who creates little is not what we need at this time. We need ones who can unlock defences, carry the ball, beat opponents and pick up clever pockets of space between the lines. We have enough who can't do this so don't need another.

Tend to agree. I think he'd be another one clogging up the squad with players who are not quite the required level. We need better if we are to progress.
