Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg

Disappointed with Orsic so far - he's playing in no-mans land in that he's neither getting forward or helping Sailsu deal with Trippier and Almiron. Alcaraz and Mara have had decent moments. We should be getting a free kick for Pope poleaxing Djenepo and he should have been booked. -

Can I safely assume we'll give Bruno the freedom of the park? -

Why no Lavia? -
Still nothing to see here. Rasmus continuing to move at the speed of a glacier.

Where have we heard that before?

Don't think there can be many expecting anything other than a defeat - maybe a battling draw at best. The level of vitriol will be down to team selection, tactics and performance - pick the right players/tactics and have a right good go and we can't complain even if we lose. Let's see what happens. -
We need some size, strength, stamina and power in midfield, the engine room where box to box players operate - we lack this vital ingredient plus a few others too.
-
Very glad Jones at least recognises we need bigger, stronger, more aggressive players because we must be the most weak team in the league. Get some big athletes who have a bit of aggression and they'll do the work the weaklings can't.
-
I think you overlook the fact that if Jones takes us down he is unlikely to have the backing of the fan base and things will become very toxic.
-
I know all that but no need to make out we're not aware of what's going on. Just tell the truth.

You'd have to play way below your current standards to balls up the first leg against us 🙂 -
Why is the club trying to make out they wanted to recall Bednarek - Villa couldn't wait to get shot of him and my understanding is that they sent him back because he wasn't good enough.
-
And we all know how long these 'minor' knee injuries tend to linger on for.
-
From what I watch we already play a 'back to basics horrid football' and that's the problem.
-
That's one of the major problems at this football club - none of them have any balls and that includes most of the players, management and SR.
-
But do you think Bazunu is currently good enough to play in the Premier League? Do you think he'd start for any other team in the division?

New Signings- How Will We Line Up?
saintant replied to Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd's topic in The Saints
Yes but which 10 other existing players would you pick while waiting the customary 28 days for the new signings to get up to speed with our brilliant system which gets us playing football like Arsenal? You can't expect just to walk into such a great side - a place has to be earned over time. -
Can anyone seriously make a good case for Bazunu as a first choice keeper in the Premier League? What makes him suitable? What are his strengths? Does he make lots of great saves, command his box, make correct decisions quickly, communicate well with his defence? I don't think he does any of those things well at the moment. Maybe his time will come but it certainly isn't now and we are suffering because of it. That's not me scapegoating him because I agree others are culpable but this thread happens to be about Bazunu.

Another day and still nothing to see here. Time to get your finger out Rasmus, the clock is ticking.
-
It's all about who offers most money - everything else is just noise.
-
Probably because it takes any new player a few weeks to get up to speed with the scintillating football we produce - you can't just walk into our side as the current players are all brilliant. Fight for your place and wait or an injury because there'll be no drop in form.
-
Unfortunately there are the haves and the have-nots in the Premier League. Just watched a fantastic game of football between two of the haves and the skill, pace, power and intensity only emphasised how far behind we are. Without the funding to sign the best players we can only put out a team that tries its hardest but we can never be anything other than make weights. Not wishing to sound like Semmens but the standard of football on display tonight compared to what we produce is night and day.
