I seem to remember last season we blew a lot of points having taken the lead. I wondered if that had changed much this season, so did some research... Chelsea (A) 1 - 0, lost 3 - 1 Tottenham (H) 1 - 0, lost 3 - 2 Everton (A) 1 - 0, lost 2 - 1 Sunderland (A) 2 - 0, drew 2 - 2 Arsenal (H), 1 - 0, drew 2 - 2 Stoke (H) 1 - 0 and 2 - 1, drew 2 - 2 West Ham (A) 1 - 0, lost 3 - 1 Total of 18 points dropped out of a possible profit of 21. Enough for us to be joint top of the league! Disappointing, but worth noting that we didn't throw away winning positions between August and December, 12 games. We won six of those 12, recovering two points from losing positions. For me, we played very well whilst we had that spine of the team in good form up until the Chelsea game on December 1st. Boruc was keeping clean sheets (six), Fonte and Lovren were very strong at the back, Wanyama was doing very well in front of them. Pointless thread really, but I just thought it was quite interesting.

We definitely had a large number though, the whole stand was given to us and I remember thinking that Palace had seen us coming - we were a matter of points from promotion and guaranteed to have big away attendances.

I would definitely agree with those who say it was a missed opportunity. But it was a 1 - 0 defeat with several first team players. Had we been trounced 5 - 0, 300 miles away from home, having played a youth team, then I would be embarrassed. As it is, we were beaten by a fellow Premier League side away from home with a slightly weakened team.

Mistake by Pochettino to drop Cork for Wanyama. Could very well have cost us the game, he kept on giving the ball away and putting us under pressure. Only Boruc made sure it wasn't 3 - 0 to them at half time. I've also got serious doubts about Yoshida. Couldn't head the ball away to save his life, smacked it up field aimlessly far too often, just a liability. An outstanding last 25 or so minutes though and three very welcome points. Good support too.

I don't recall us or our local newspapers making a big deal out of our long away days in League One - I seem to remember we just got on with it. Hartlepool, Carlisle, Exeter etc.

Sir Dave Brailsford and British Cycling are a success story in this area. They've had a hell of a lot of money invested into them and spent it in the right way. The results speak for themselves.

I see factless trotted out the away attendance at Oxford today on Twitter. Clear strategy - when they're doing badly or have had a bad result, mention the support with numbers. Every single time.

Totally agree, he was good - as was Frazer Richardson. They both whipped in crosses and we got on the end of them a lot of the time, from memory. We don't play like that anymore and he's just not up to it.
