He lives down South Staffordshire way, really nice down there, and he can be at the Stoke training ground in an hour which means he only actually has to enter the rathole on matchdays and with the Britt just off the A500/A50 he only has to venture over the very outskirts even then. Stoke have invested serious effort in getting him.

Explain to me, in easy terms, how we could have kept VW, SM or GP? Don't give the bullsh_it of "pay them more" as that's the argument of morons.

I fail to understand what is hard about the concept that players don't want to stay. We kept VW as long as we could. He turned down a great deal and wanted to go. Mane has wanted to go to an "elite" club from the moment he arrived and was determined to move regardless. We offered Mane a deal that would have broken all club records but he said no, I want to go. How do we make them stay and still perform? We've rewarded those we want to keep and who want to stay with great new contracts using the TV ££. We've been canny in the market so far but like many I feel we are an ACM/CF short but it's not about throwing money at it, it's finding the best fit.

Yep. Reckon I've got 2/3 weeks before a forced absence of around 6/8 weeks. TBF, it was slow for us. For me, climbing, it's the heat that does me, as of course you can only do the mountains in the summer, and my northern European body struggles above "warm". Going the Vosges Mountains in France late May next year, hopefully not too hot as some proper climbing and drinking of wine to be done!
