Yep it's ridiculous. Get sharp in and conclude the window in style. My worry is we will get no one and have a 'we tried' attitude whilst failing to strengthen further in January which would be a real shame.
-
Yep. That is a huge consideration, probably bigger than the money.
-
Can't say I agree with that at all. Ultimately effort counts for nothing if we don't manage to sign who we wanted.
-
So not really cover for jos then, more of another option. Good because it's what we needed. Adkins has done what I expected so far. One new striker (sharp hopefully) and it will have been a great window.
-
The sort of thing I wanted. Hopefully till the end of the season. Striker please and we are sorted.
-
Just one more reason why it won't happen (not now anyway.)
-
Amazing. Exactly how I imagined Lee would be.

I have no idea what the fight was about. I just get annoyed that people automatically believe the player is a tw*t based on not a lot. I'm not saying Cortese is to blame but I'm also saying I don't know Puncheon is either. It is possible that Cortese was petty after the event and dragged it on longer than necessary. He certainly showed an error of judgement over the banning of photos and eventually changed his mind over that one so it's not a huge leap to imagine the same thing happened here.
-
I can't speak for dune, but I assumed that Puncheon's apology was a condition of him being able to be invited into the fold again rather than something he honestly believes. Surely if he thought he had been truly wrong he would have apologised long ago. By apologising, the club do not have to admit to anything and Puncheon can go back to being in the squad. Everyone wins.

What does that have to do with valid criticism of the current regime? Just because in the past we had idiots running things doesn't make the current lot beyond reproach.

The official unofficial January transfer targets thread..

That would be perfect for me. Would be very pleased with the transfer window if that were the case. -
The fact that it is season ticket holders who are invited (except for this saints foundation thing) and then the fact that it is a dinner paid for by the club means that there is control there.

Why do loads of people not rate De Ridder?

So the conference South? -
You had to apply by contacting Solent. (or by getting tickets if you know a presenter on there ). It was a simple process and to my knowledge, everyone who applied got a ticket. They took place once a year normally just before the season or a few games in. I was told that the reason for no forum last year was due to the death of Markus (fair enough) but it seems that this was just an excuse to shelve them. A shame really.
-
Yes. I wrote about the flag last year and received no response. Mike confirmed that he got no response either for a month or two. I also wrote about fans forums and got one reply I was not satisfied with. I replied again and got no reply. The forums are important because they allow the club to be publicly asked about their decisions and for supporters to get a reply. Part of its value is that it is not stage managed and so cannot be 'controlled.' The same is not true for these dinners.
-
I have no problem with it. I just disagree that it should be the only way that supporters should be able to get their views heard by the chairman.
-
Seriously it's really boring when people just moan about other people's comments. The current discussion has stemmed from comments made at the dinner. Minty has managed to explain his point of view really well and I found his opinion quite interesting (and I agreed with most of it.) Why can't you?
-
Fair enough I may have got my players confused. Fact is he has played (and performed well) at a higher level than Lambert. Also he is younger so will be worth more.
-
I agree. I just hope we are going for a realistic price tag. I hope they realise that for 99% of players, a big wedge on a transfer fee will mean expectations of a big wage. If we aren't willing to do that, then we should go for a lesser player or perhaps explore our options in lower leagues (or maybe go abroad as we have been doing.)
-
Happy 1,000 everyone.
-
I would argue that if you are paying a substantial amount for a player, then you would have a fairly good idea of how much they would want in wages. I would also argue that Hooper has performed admirably in the champions league and is young and therefore his monetary value is higher than lamberts (although his value to us would not be.) I'm not desperate for us to sign hooper, I just want us to sign another decent striker and maybe a cb as cover to really have a go at winning promotion like Adkins said. If we fail to strengthen further and we finish third and don't go up then it will be extremely disappointing. I can guarantee now though you will have the likes of nickg saying how ecstatic they are that we were higher than they thought at the start of the season and how we should be thankful we finished as high as we did. I just think we are in an amazing position and to not grab it with both hands (which clearly Adkins wants to do) would be a real shame.
-
Yep that's a pretty fair comment. If very one was as even handed as you minty this forum would be a lot better!
-
I don't think we are guilty of hyping signings before we have signed them. The only thing I question is putting big money bids in for players of we are then not prepared to pay the wages that would quite obviously go along with that. Why not go for a lesser quality of player if that is our attitude?

There was more than one criteria than loudmouth.

I like this site. I think it's interesting and useful. It is however less interesting and useful than it used to be.
