You said "in that unbeaten run we are third." in the unbeaten run we are first but over the entire season we are third. My point was that we have taken the most points in the league since the end of September.
-
I'm not blaming you in the slightest and it was entirely understandable, but to be fair you did state with absolute cast iron certainty earlier in the season that automatic promotion had already gone and that there was no chance of us getting it.
-
Are we third in that unbeaten run? Thought I saw we were first.

I still haven't quite given up the chance of winning the league. Think we need a bit more optimism after my terribly incorrect prediction for the Wednesday game. Next five games for us will be crucial with all except one away.
-
Conversely, losing two in a row if we win both closes the gap to 7 points which is achievable. Of course they are heavy favourites but losing some of their best players to AFCON will have had an effect. There's an argument that we have actually been the best team in the league since our unbeaten run started and not that long ago Ipswich were ten ahead of us. It's unlikely but it's still a possibility at the moment.
-
I'm aware we aren't second. My point was that having the team at the top going through a blip may be beneficial as it give us two place to play for rather than one which at the moment is too far away.
-
Leicester and Ipswich is up next. What are we wanting from that? Would it be wrong to hope for an Ipswich and saints win so we close the gap on Leicester to 7? That feels a lot more like a gap we can bridge.

Saints 4-0 Sheffield Wednesday - Saturday 3pm

Absolutely. The reason I loved that 20 minutes after half time so much was because you could just see the pressure ramping up on them and how tiring it would be to keep the defending going. -

Worth pointing out that winning those would now have had us level with Leicester. It's a ridiculous standard I agree but still room for improvement. -
Great head tbf

Goals were great but some of that was in part because of what we had done previously tiring Wednesday out and they imploded. -

First twenty minutes of the second half before we scored we played some genuinely incredible stuff. So so impressive. Best game of the season for me. -

Including me! I have to say this second half is the best I've seen us play this season. Some of the football we played was unreal. -
What a fortunate position we are in that any extra signings are nice to have rather than being fundamental to our season. We will almost certainly get a winger in but even if we don't, I've got faith we have enough in the squad to get the job done.
-
So you'd rather Southampton failed to get the players they have earmarked as the ones they want because there is a chance that they might not work out? Interesting stance.
-
Think it was earlier this week or last week. Toney scored a hat trick.
-
It's not about how we personally feel about players. I want the club to get the players that they deem to be good enough because they are more likely to do well.
-
Realistically why would they allow him to depart to a direct rival midway through the season?
-
It might be that he doesn't suit their system. The point is not looking at things with hindsight and then suggesting that losing out on our targets is a good thing. I want to see us landing the targets we want because it gives us the best chance of promotion. Like I said though, I would hope in this case we would have the edge.
-
Lots of reports at the time that we were interested. Supposedly chose Leeds because they wanted him more. Not that it matters.
-
That wasn't the point I was making. I'd rather not lose out on a player we want more than once to a direct rival. Am hoping we'd swing it anyway.
-
Regarding Che, it's very likely that any replacement we get in would have to be replaced again in the summer if we did get promoted. It's likely we'd have to get a loan in and no guarantees they will be better. I'd keep him personally till the summer until we know where we are then he can go with our blessing. Expect we will get rid though if an acceptable bid comes in.

Would be pretty gutting to lose Brooks to Leeds after they pipped us to Piroe in the summer. You would hope the fact that we are so close to Bournemouth might swing it.
