Let's be honest no saints fan is going to shed a tear if the following were dropped: Manning Stephens Downes Bazunu Archer And to a lesser extent: THB Woods Leaving a team of: New gk Jelert/roeslev Edwards Quarshie Wellington Jander/Romeu Charles/Bragg Fellows Azaz/matsuki Scienza Armstrong/Stewart/new striker Probably need a new fullback and a cb but I'd happily wave goodbye to all of them. Maybe Armstrong too but I think at least he tries. I don't really know why Edwards hasn't really had much of a chance, particularly because a team above us in the league really want to sign him.

Agree with that completely.

I certainly hope so. Might get our money back in that case!

Just another way that individual players can avoid taking responsibility. If we remember all the marginal gains stiff we used to do when we were good, bringing our own chef with us, taking mattresses to away games so players get a good rest etc. Nowadays no one wants to actually assume responsibility for anything because responsibility is scary. We just don't seem to care about losing or winning in the same way we used to. Even the manager doesn't seem too fussed about it.
-
Right but imagine if we got someone like Gao now with no willingness to put money in and no expertise. Or a mad owner that wants to change our colours and name because they are lucky in his country. Things can always get worse, there's no guarantee that any replacement would actually be better.
-
I'm not sure he gets a free pass, it's just rightly acknowledged that putting real amounts of your own money in is a very different thing and is going to make you care an awful lot more than someone who doesn't do that. I'm sure he would really rather not let his asset lose value.
-
I don't necessarily disagree. My point is simply that you deserve credit for investing your own money into the club unlike previous owners and people with other job roles at the club and whilst he deserves some criticism, it will always be tempered by that fact. He's actually losing out financially when we do poorly. A load of the others won't give a fuck, they get a pay cheque either way and might take a hut to their reputation but they can always bullshit during another Ted talk and find some deluded wanker to sell moonshine to.
-
Correct. So at no point did I say that putting money up absolves him of any blame. I actually said the opposite. Of course someone who invests their own money should not be viewed as negatively as someone with no skin in the game and pretty much no incentive for things to get better, hence my example of Lowe and also Guy Ashkam.
-
I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest you haven't read what I've written.
-
The most culpable of all? Give it a rest. Again, he is worthy of some criticism but he's put his money into the club.
-
It doesn't absolve him of criticism but it definitely absolves him of some criticism. He's not exactly a Rupert Lowe character using dodgy reverse takeovers to line his pockets at the expense of the club.
-
He is demonstrably better than the other wankers running the club. He has a share of the blame for sure but it's just not correct to say he is no better than the others.
-
At least he's put his own money in.
-
That's not true because we needed another striker regardless but it was already clear that Downs wasn't up to the required standard before the window closed.
-
Yes he was and he has been consistent about it for ages. Also said we didn't need a striker other than Downs in the summer.
-
Let's say it really has nothing at all to do with the system. If that is the case then what do you really have to lose by trying a change? He must know the fans are begging for it and we are not winning regardless.
-
I was expecting a response like that. It's absolute bollocks.
-
I'd say relegation to league one was the lowest point but this is certainly the most boring and frustrating period. At least then our lack of resources was a bit of an excuse.
-
Imagine trying to get promoted up against West ham or Forest, Burnley, Wolves, Leicester. We've got no chance.
-
The club never had the balls to do what needed doing. They have very low standards which is typified by the current manager. I haven't heard his comments after this one but it will be something like Boro being a tough place to come and they are near the top for a reason and we will learn from this performance. Just shite.
-
Yeah but we didn't have the money or resources to change everyone. I certainly would have binned Stephens, Bazunu and Manning though.
-
Well we dont currently have an alternative to Azaz.
-
I thought we looked into the personality of players before we bought them? I reckon we panicked after we couldn't get Spertsyan or Rudoni and got whoever else was on the list because we needed someone.
-
Also we played well for a few games against teams that weren't great and who played in a way that allowed us to play the way we wanted to. Continually pointing to those few games as justification for continuing to play that exact way with no deviation when your form falls off a cliff means you're either a troll or know nothing about football. Under an experienced manager we would make tactical and formation changes in different games that would give us added flexibility and allow us to gain more points. We still wouldn't be where we should be given our resources but we'd be doing better.

New gk Jelert THB new cb new lb Bragg Jander Fellows Matsuki Scienza New striker And get rid of all the other players. I know we can't afford that nut they are really the only players along with maybe Charles and Stewart who should be anywhere near the team.
