Lucky bloke. I was absolutely soaked and wore a chunky goody that suddenly became very heavy. Memorable game though!

A very important twitter thread that everyone should read.

Goodness. In a totally unexpected development, it appears that half the people organising this peace march on Saturday have links to Hamas. That's quite a different narrative from what you were posting about last week @egg. I assume you're concerned by this revelation? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/11/06/former-hamas-chief-behind-pro-palestine-armistice-day-march/#:~:text=Muhammad Kathem Sawalha led the,in a London council house.

A friend just reminded me of this brilliant away day that we went to 14 years ago on Saturday. Was anyone else there? Hoping for a similar type of outcome this Saturday https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/4733020.bristol-rovers-2-southampton-3/

Good to see the Met coming out now and saying the obvious - that protests are wholly inappropriate this weekend. Assuming any of these protests are genuinely designed to be peaceful and to avoid any sort of clashes, you would assume that the organisers will respond to the police request and cancel any action. To do otherwise would suggest they do want to cause disruption and disorder.
-
It's interesting how these many, thousands of people were not out on the streets protesting to anywhere near the same extent when many more Muslims were being killed in Yemen or Syria for example. I wonder what it is about this lot of killings in particular that has inspired such protest? Hmm.
-
And sure as night follows day. Let's cross our fingers for no ugly scenes but anyone saying this so called protest isn't designed to provoke something like this is living on another planet
-
Exactly. And if anything Iran is more of a serious threat. The idea that Palestine would just play nice if Israel hadn't take steps to defend itself is a nonsense.
-
Yes but it's not like it wasn't entirely predictable.
-
I love late wins and you are right. I do however wonder how long we can keep on picking points up in this manner. I would like to see us a few goals clear and coasting in a few more games so we don't have to rely on very late winners or equalisers. It's not going to work out every time.

Normally it's the local authority who instructs the schools to close. Given the forecast they weren't going to not close just in case it turned out to be a damp squib.
-
Comes out an hour before. So 15 minutes.

When people use the word weary when they mean wary. Happens all the time.

You're just being deliberately obtuse. If that's what you really think that they haven't chosen that specific date for very specific reasons then all I can say is that the overwhelming majority of public opinion will disagree with you.
-
Clearly they've chosen the date and location in order to impact on rememberance. Come on you're not silly.
-
What's the big deal. I say let the BNP have a peaceful March on Eid or Windrush day. I don't see the problem.
-
On second thoughts. Let it go ahead.
-
Why was the EDL march banned in 2011? I can also answer for myself about what I feel cheers.
-
Because there's a high chance it's going to cause public disorder on that day in particular. Obviously.
-
I find it hard to understand how anyone could find the bombing of an ambulance outside a hospital funny but apparently we have a poster who does.
-
Regardless of our prior disagreements that's an astounding position to take and you can't seriously think that the two are entirely unrelated or that people shouldn't be outraged by it. I see the home secretary has linked to a previous time when a march was prohibited so there is precedent.
-
It's clearly inappropriate to protest on remembrance day. I doubt they will be able to stop it but they have to at least set up appropriate protection to prevent protest by the Cenotaph. It will be beyond the pail for many.
-
Sounds like the government are trying to ban it. Will be interesting to see how they get on with trying to stop it. Should be interesting.
-
Rice and Maddison woukd have been there most likely. Absolutely mad that someone as good and proven as those two are basically ignored by a team like United in favour of shite. Not saying they would have all signed now but they've missed out on too many obvious signings.
-
That or green. They love a bit of moral grandstanding and confected, selective outrage. Right uo his street.
