It's not really the managers decision is it if we have no cash. Like someone else said, really the Walcott deal was the one piece of business that wasn't essential this summer that maybe we could have done without and reinforced elsewhere like at the back.
-
So weird that he didn't start last week. He's one of our most positive players when he plays.
-
Yep I think the real issue we have is game management which to be honest is down to the manager. Individually Ralph has improved players but as a collective unit we seem unable to change games abd we pretty much never change tactics to get a victory. We either get success playing the same way we always do or we lose.
-
I've already predicted relegation for us this year, I just wouldn't say at this stage you would call it probable. Newcastle will be down there, Norwich for definite and then you would only need one more probably someone like Watford, Palace or Brentford.
-
I think good is pretty strong. If this is really it then it's been a competent summer at best. Losing ings and vestergaard without replacing their experience let alone strengthening the squad is a bit of a body blow to be honest and I think that overall we start the season probably a little weaker than we ended the last season.
-
Probably is a bit strong.
-
Yes but it's annoying when other people do it! It's harder for me to explain it away as just a typical fan reaction if a neutral is saying it too. Despite predicting relegation this year, there always a bit of hope that your just being unduly pessimistic.
-
Who has done that?
-
We pretty much are a club in decline TBF.
-
Lunacy. If we go down this will be a big reason.
-
I mean he really hasn't has he. There's a general consensus that he was vadyku improved last year and was probably our best centre back. That doesn't mean he was anything amazing though, it just highlights how poor we are in that position.
-
The reason the club aren't doing it is because it was some corporate thing from the kit suppliers rather than something invented by saints hence Everton having the same top. Anyway whilst you're doing it, could you look into a matching jester hat to go with the kit?
-
Again that's just stating the obvious.
-
Seems a little bit random then. Like they've just chosen an icon to make money. Kind of like saints releasing the Muhammed Ali or Freddy Mercury third kit.
-
No one is expecting that. A significant improvement is perfectly achievable though with the right signing.
-
Is there a connection to Bob marley and ajax?
-
But even if that is eventually the case, it's not like he's the certain CB starter that we need straight away.
-
We should have got Cahill in as well. Then we could have had this guy as dm backup and seen if he was up to it with less pressure.
-
I don't think that's a particularly unreasonable way to think. I do think this could result in relegation if this is our last signing.
-
"the majority have written him off" no they haven't.
-
Or what a great half we had against Everton before getting spanked 3-1...
-
And that's great if he was signed as the backup option to learn his craft a bit like the role that Salisu had last season but we simply can't afford it. Sometimes I think saints are a bit too clever for their own good.
-
I don't mind the young lb if we get him because he's a backup. My issue is we've replaced Bertrand with someone who may be of similar quality, we've probably got a CB that is not the clear immediate improvement over vestergaard, we are weak in cm, we've never replaced tadic and Armstrong will have to be seriously impressive to do better than ings so overall we're worse than last year when we were absolutely terrible since January.
-
Was that portvliet? I remember people wanking themselves silly at the start of that season about how we were going to take the league by storm with this fresh new approach of playing the youngsters. Didn't take long for reality to dawn.
-
I'm almost certain that the reason we haven't got a keeper in is because Forster is on a ridiculous amount of money and we can't afford another load of wages spaffed up the wall in that position. Not getting a keeper in makes no sense otherwise.
