  1. 11,000 for midweek game between 3rd and 4th division sides, not quite the crowd draw for the first premiership home game of the season - against your nearest rivals in premiership - no wonder skates have sold 17,000 tickets for Saturday!
  2. so not even Hart is convinced! keep it running Dr!
  3. Crystal Palace have been banned from signing players following a dispute over unpaid bonuses and signing-on fees from last season. The cheque's in the post: Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan insists all players - past and present - will get their money Palace have been hit with the embargo from the Football League, which comes as a huge embarrassment for Neil Warnock’s team as they prepare for the launch of the new Championship season. Warnock’s side are due to complete their pre-season programme tonight against non-League Whyteleafe and start their League campaign on Saturday against Plymouth at Selhurst Park. Jordan said: ‘This summer has been difficult for Palace and therefore for me. We had a poor season and attendances were down. I have stepped in to bankroll the club to the tune of £5million between May 20 and July 31. ‘I don’t have a board of investors pumping money in. Most clubs would have gone into administration but ours hasn’t because I stood up and made payments to hold the squad together. ‘Most Palace fans will find it perplexing having finished 15th, but there are bonuses due and severance payments outstanding to ex-players. This doesn’t apply to the existing squad. Everyone at the club has been paid.’ John Oster, James Scowcroft, Paul Ifill and Shefki Kuqi are among those understood to be owed money. Jordan claimed the embargo was not a direct result of the missing payments and that it would have no impact his transfer policy with Darren Ambrose, Stern John and Freddie Sears added to the squad
  4. forgot he went there!
  5. Good player. Wonder if Pardew was after more height at start of the season - started with perry, lallana, james, saga - schneiderlin not known for being great in the air.
  6. Watching the cup highlights and Neil Warnock said, of us signing Lambert; "Think its great, I look on from an envious position but he is renowned at that level to get goals, Southampton need goals, its a great signing"
  7. can't get it to work in real player?? are you using internet to listen?
  8. skates are better than us. they are 2 divisions higher. they have won a cup recently. We are better supported. We have better stadium and infrastructure. In the lifetime, of most on here (ignoring any children or world's 200 years old man!) we have been significantly more successful. We are better known and thought of due to image and likes of Keegan, Channon and MLT. That image was damaged by Lowe/Rednapp. Skates have image of being tatty, hooligans and a clown supporter. simple really.
  9. is that serious? what was it cup game?
  10. would be good addition to the squad. Bizarrely would have been very pleased to get him last year in CCC but now, in lower league, wonder if we can aim higher!
  11. good signing for them imho.

    Adam Lallana

reminds me of Joe Cole in that no-one doubted he had ability but how and where to use it?
  13. 74 points and decent goal difference (which we would likely to have if we win 84 points) would have got play off last year. Leicester, Peterborough, MK Dons and Leeds all had 84 points last year or more. Also interestingly, Millwall -who we more than matched in our first game, had 82. It looks like we will have a team as good as anyone by the end of the transfer window. I really don't see how we could possibly be better off not going for it? If we are competing come January I would expect some decent loan fees etc for that extra push.
  14. bit like Morph hinting but no saying anything!
  15. why not? if they have quotes from Pardew why not let wider audience see them
  16. tbf there had been numerous threads suggesting him, so another one just saying (after game lacking a target man) Lambert please, hardly assist you in your arguement with SS? anyway - will leave it to you 2!
  17. CF - motivating Rasiak would be like a big signing
  18. still not sure whether he claimed to have info or whether he pleaded for us to sign him and got his wish! Not knocking him either way.
  19. Heard him say on radio he has only been forward for, I think it was 2 - maybe 3, years. Looking at his record; 2005 Rochdale 28 goals in 64 then 3 years with Bristol, 51 goals in 128 this season 2 in 2. about 81 in 194 goal in 2.3 games - and getting more and more prolific, now hopefully playing in better side as well....
  20. think both Mills and Holmes (with Lallana to cover) will be v good left wingers that out competitors would love. Surpised a few are seeing this as weak area. If we get the CBs all seem to agree on, and a CM to replace Wooton who wants to keep the ball and create more then I think we will be a very good side.
  21. glad others agree about James, on here; http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=15785 others saying didn't do well enough to keep his place. Harding nearly made it into my v good! agree Gillett over Wooton - particularly with likes of Paterson, Scneiderlin, Rasiak, Lambert we have more height now
  22. not sure about Thomas on tonights, seeing others views accept probably got him wrong - did win the ball a lot, but thought there were lots of gaps - possibly lack of understanding between him and Lancashire? Happy to keep Thomas in side.
  23. When you look at likes of Cardiff, brand new stadium just opened - 5,000/
