  1. made me smile thinking of an internationally agreed unit of measurement of ego -so you can compare -as fact!
  2. my guess is that as they said he was out for months and no change not bothering with any updates until there is some definate news
  3. would have looked at that team sheet a while ago and though "is this really all we have to back up the first team". Due to lack of big names. Now with good coaching, good style of football, talent and youthful enthusiam you get the feeling that some of these are going to give us a better future.

  5. again good link We were well beaten by a team that played nice passing football. The first half was reasonably even but Noone(best Argyle player)was contained in the second. Walton and Patterson did not impress. Bolasie showed a nice turn of speed but in general his delivery let him down. Team skill wise in all departments Southampton were superior and comfortable with a precise passing game Posted: Tue Nov 04, 2008 6:23 pm Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We were totally outplayed by a very good footballing side who passed the ball well and ripped our fragile defence to pieces
  6. sites don't often talk that positively about another team and their players! superb young Southamton Southampton made a bright start to Southampton continued to carry a threat at the other end and when the diminutive Romain Gasmi was allowed to run at the heart of Argyle's defence, broke swiftly down the left r some excellent inter-play by the visitors and White, with confidence brimming, side-stepped Gerring before slipping a neat finish into the bottom corner. White will get the plaudits but Smith on the opposite wing was having just as much fun, and the frustration got too much for Simon Walton who ended another dazzling run by unceremoniously dumping the Theo Walcott look-alike to the ground. Argyle's vastly more experienced side
  7. thought it was him. Just take his guessing games with a pinch of salt this time.
  8. glad there was not a quick re-start - would be just so saints to concede when keeper has been celebrating!
  9. seem to remember even stronger clearer predictions / promises from Morph at the end of last season, when he was insulting Cowen and promising that RL/AC definately would not be returning. Unless my memory is wrong?
  10. reports of game who went... not every post has to mention boardroom. Start another Lowe out thread?
  11. who knows, but probably not. Hearing how Gobbern respects JP and his way.
  12. forgive me if I have this wrong -but was it you who launched into a load of abuse against Cowen several months ago -saying that him and Lowe were definately not returning?
  13. does it get presented before the game? Not seen it but not normally in my seat until just before kickoff
  14. there is no doubt that good positive support helps a team - its just how much.
  15. trouble for me was his athletism and energy could not make up for his lacking in passing and tackling. Great to see those long legged runs to close someone down, and as someone said -Derby!
  16. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=10842 1st KD 2nd Lallana/Surman 3rd Cork (4th really)
  17. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=10841 just put this on the Goburn thread -he clearly respects JP

who said this forum can argue over anything?
  21. how often have we said those things -hoping and failing to make ourselves better! Deep down they know they got stuffed by the boys who play like they are from Brazil - enjoy it while it lasts - not often we have gloating rights!
  22. enjoy the match thread! talk football not boardroom!
  23. wish him all the best, liked him -good dynamic character -unfortunately I didnt think he was very good.
  24. Times report If Southampton's team gets any younger they could be paid their bonuses in sweets, which might be no bad thing given the parlous state of the Saints’ finances. With cash-flow problems forcing Dutch coach Jan Poortvliet to shed his senior professionals and rely almost entirely on youth, the average age of their outfield players, missing late injury absentee Jason Euell, was only fractionally over 20. Yet with youth evidently comes no fear as Southampton staged a remarkable second-half fightback which brought them three goals, including a superb last-minute winner from top scorer David McGoldrick, and a first win in six games which might do more than just stop the rot at the bottom end of the table. Poortvliet’s side, which started with five teenagers and tellingly introduced 17-year-old Oscar Gobern at half-time, not only climbed out of the relegation places but also suggested it may be ready to come of age, such was the spirit they showed in overcoming a two-goal deficit to join a fairly select band who leave Deepdale with any reward. “When we were 2-0 down it looked bad,” Poortvliet admitted afterwards. “I was a little bit angry at half-time because even though I didn’t think we were playing badly we didn’t have the determination and drive to win the game. “But it’s a big compliment the way we came back. I was very proud of the boys. Sometimes you need a result like that to give you confidence.” Preston had won five of their previous seven home games and at half-time were looking good for another thanks to two goals within six minutes from Billy Jones and Stephen Elliott. Jones, having never previously scored for the club before netting in mid-week, fired home again from 20 yards and then bundled the ball into the path of Elliott to drive a low shot into the bottom corner of the net. Barry Nicholson and Jon Parkin, whose goal drought since signing from Stoke in August has now extended to 12 games, then contrived to miss the chance of a third following a sublime pass from the impressive Ross Wallace early in the second half. And Southampton, bravely refusing to accept their fate, needed no further invitation to launch a response inspired by Gobern, who would not have figured but for an illness to Jordan Robertson and Euell’s strained hamstring. His calmness on the ball and willingness to run at the Preston defence had them back-tracking and after on-loan defender Alex Pearce had headed home an Andrew Surman corner on his debut, Gobern pounced on a Sean St Leger mistake to cross for Surman to nod in the leveller. Goalkeeper Andy Lonergan then denied Bradley Wright-Phillips and Gobern but McGoldrick’s solo run and seventh goal of the season proved a worthy winner. “We turned a victory into a defeat and in a totally unacceptable manner,” lamented Preston boss Alan Irvine.
