Ooooooooh OK, well I think your 12" singles are considerably more robust than the classic vinyl albums so play the classic stuff on something that's a little bit more sensitive and if there's any doubts about the stylus then a new one would be a good investment. I don't know what "top notch" is nowadays; I use a very old Rega Planar. Not sure what the current cartridge is.
-
What he said. And away from direct heat like central heating pipes and radiators. Have you got anything to play it on? It's worth having a decent turntable, arm, cartridge and stylus. Especially stylus; a worn stylus kills vinyl fast. Old (or even new) vinyl benefits from vacuum cleaning. There are commercial services, but I use one of these: KAB EV-1. Old crackly records can be played wet; load a fine paintbrush with a very dilute mild detergent solution, and trail it in front of the stylus as the record rotates. Can be helpful if you're trying to digitise music which is only available on old vinyl (or those flexis which used to be used for promos and freebies).

I think his maths is fine. I know a few of those 321 were expatriates resident up that way; I wonder how many made the full trip? How many would Saints have taken to the north-east back in the top-flight days? Just asking, like (but expecting maybe more than 300-odd?)

They're very quiet in there aren't they? Next time I go I'll try and get in one of the noisier areas.

Hi Mr Missile, there was one in the Kingsland too; well not a skate as such, more of an expatriate scouser... no colours though.

Catstycam, Red Tarn, Striding Edge? Be nice if they were a bit closer. My Mrs keeps telling me to stop pining for the north and go out and do what there is locally. I find the coast walks are the best underfoot and give the best views. And you get to ride interesting little ferryboats like the startlingly pink boat from Warsash to Hamble. And the boat over to Hythe and the dinkyest electric train in the entire universe up the pier. It's not Helvellyn but it'll do for now... -
I need a new bike. I like the look of these with the carbon belt drive: http://falk-bikes.de/frame.php?MakeLang=english&MakeLangID=2&lay1=3&lay2=2&lay3=4&lay4=1&prodid=08FR54 Actually with the optional Rohloff hub that's probably more than two grand...

I didn't do it nobody saw me do it you can't prove anything

Feck number 6 is hard, how do you do that? Edit; sussed it, google translator.

I think Voldeknapp will go there. It's his spiritual home after all... He supported them as a child etc. etc.

I love Scotland, Glencoe, The Ben, Fort Bill, Cairngorms, Skye, Torridon, Lochinver. Beats the cr@p out of anything in Hampshire or anything anywhere near Hampshire. Apart from the lack of remunerative employment that is... Oh and the standard of football...

Dunno if you folk saw this: Lunchtime With `Arry Redknapp... We thought it was pretty good...

Made one of my occasional visits to the Chapel End today and I would say that LOLing @ Pompey is possibly the only thing you have to LOL about at the moment. Let's hope for better things in the new year eh?
-
I'm sure that would work fine, yeah. Can we use your stadium? If you could arrange to have it moved somewhere near Cosham, thanks.
-
Still 94% full though. I think the usual rule of thumb is that if you're regularly selling more than 80 or 85% then you could use more capacity. And better catering and sanitation too I should think. Anyway, Tony Adams won't stand for any nonsense. Yesterday at half time he caught a couple of fans climbing over the stadium wall. He was furious. He grabbed them by the collars and said, "Now you just get back in there and watch the game till it finishes."
-
Yep, me and my boy should be there. Not sure if we qualify as being Plastics to be honest. Or even fans at all really...
-
I should think there would be considerable skills mismatch here; e.g. we need 600,000 rocket scientists and we've got 2 million unemployed bricklayers (for example). Re-training is sometimes possible but there is also the question of aptitude and experience. And even if the skills match there are issues of location and mobility as others have pointed out.

Was the last proper car to hold the land speed record Reid Railton's Napier Special driven by John Cobb to 360-odd mph in 1939 and 390-odd mph in 1947? That was before I was born even. Piston engines driving road wheels through a conventional transmission. I know people have been a bit faster since then in proper cars but not significantly so. I was pretty impressed by Andy Green driving (aiming?) Thrust SSC; best of luck to all concerned in the Bloodhound SSC project.

Cheers Hacienda and Weston; we were twenty-six I suppose and we'd been around a bit and it became obvious if we were going to marry anyone it would be each other, so we did. And that's nearly thirty years ago now. But I know a lot of other folk where it just hasn't worked out and you think, blimey! there but for fortune go any of us...
-
This is all desperately sad. I hope things work out for all of you folk. Is there anyone out there who's actually still with the other parent of their offspring? I'm beginning to feel like a dying breed.

I stayed here last time I was in Liverpool: http://www.feathers.uk.com/alicia/default-en.html

I'm not saying attendance was low, but when I phoned up the ticket office to ask what time was kick-off, they said, what time can you get here? thankyouthankyoui'mhereallweektrytheveal -
Well that's certainly good enough for me; I'm convinced.

Never realised Weston Saint was old

Is that the legendary Weston Saint? It could be, age is about right... If it is, hi Weston! -
Pyridine is really bad. And selenium compounds are too. Castrol R is gooooood....
