  1. I've been hearing if you are an engineer on the continent you're almost revered as are teachers, here we barely give those occupations house room. I wonder why?
  2. That's got broad employability appeal. However, people are starting to question degrees in the big humanities subjects, you know those that develop high level critical thinking skills, not just things like English Lit or Early Medieval Studies or other niche courses, but History and Geography. Both subjects develop a wide skill set which has in the past made graduates in them highly employable beyond just teaching and academia.
  3. I think West Ham may well be nailed on for a quick return, I personally think they'll piss the league by a country mile sadly with Wolves in their slipstream. I think we'll be competitive but don't see any other outcome for automatic promotion. There are two question marks. Would we sell to direct rival? Would he start at West Ham?
  4. Back from Kefalonia last Thursday, nearby in Skala for two weeks. My third visit in four years. I agree about Fiskardo, its like a lot of 'yachty' places in the Ionian. Could include Agios Stefanos Sinion near Kassiopi in Corfu and to a lesser extent Vathy and Kioni on Ithaca and Gaios on Paxos in a list of similar places. Not a huge fan of Myrtos Beach either, anywhere that is an Instagram must photograph location gets a thumbs down from me.
  5. Seem to remember Party 7s being hurled as weapons at Bradford in the 1976 Quarter Final, they were like sodding depth charges off a WW2 destroyer.
  6. You're lucky we’ve got the Fox stream here in Kefalonia. Shite commentators shite pundits.
  7. A bit like us at OT in 24/25 season.
  8. Madueke, Eze?
  9. What about the guy on the submarine?
  10. Muricans who call football the s word and bitch constantly about how poor Europeans are.
  11. Absolutely.
  12. No, but i have chatted to folks that have. Not heard a bad word spoken about it and that pretty much goes for everywhere in Skala. I've stayed in the village centre a couple of times; at Panorama overlooking the square at the top of the steps and Costa Azzurra which an odd little hotel above the ice cream parlour opposite the church. This year, like two years ago I'm at 9 Muses which I cant fault. Sentimental attachments to the Skala aside it is just a great little place. Plenty of good quality places to eat, got to try some new ones this year where I've never eaten before. On our first visit in 1987 on our honeymoon there was no road to Poros everything ended at the Tara Beach Hotel so it's spread out a bit along the coast road without losing any of its charm.
  13. Where were you, San Giorgio?
  14. As Duckhunter might say ‘Sweaties looking embarrassingly poor’.
  15. Interesting, another Americanism creeping in. A bit like 'the military'.
  16. 2-1 Germany

    Shoes

Haven't worn a pair of proper shoes probably since I finished teaching in 2023.
  18. Great goal Vini Jr
  19. I like it and it’s pretty popular. Like a village within a village. Decent restaurant out front and only a 600m stroll into the village centre. Plenty places to eat in the village and along the beach front. Nice vibe about the whole of Skala.
  20. Been to Skala a few times, going back in 5 weeks time. It’ll be my second totally solo trip. Bit of sentimental place for me as we spent our honeymoon there in 1987. It was a bit different then. We took some of my wife’s ashes and scattered them in the sea a few years back so it’s always going to be a bit of a special place. Never done a Captain Vangelis boat trip so will put that right. I usually stay at 9 Muses.
  21. I agree holidayed many times on the mainland. Went to the Mani south of Kalamata for many years and have also been to the Pelion on the Aegean Coast. Last year I took the family to Parga on the Epirus Coast NW Greece. It was busy as they are both teachers and so we were there July/August, but had a great vibe. We stayed on the Valtos side ( fantastic beach) Boat trip to Paxos, Acheron Gorge walk, boat hire, other great beaches it was a good trip.
  22. Also Fitzhugh Fella on here and particularly on X in the last few days
  23. Add Ian Herbert of that lying coffin dodgers rag The Mail to the list.
  24. You're better off not knowing. Suffice to say a lot of sack Tonda comments, some relegate us comments, one or two kick us out the EFL altogether. Cov and Ipswich fans seem to have a lot to say as well as having northern monkeys all over it. Proper unhinged SM stuff.
