Heavy defeat, Woods double. We are so shite. Franny is right when he says we’re like a boxer who’s taken too many punches.

Old enough to have seen Law, Best and Charlton in their heyday. Possibly three of the greatest to come from these islands. RIP.

Some on here earlier wanted a decent performance. I think they got that for the most part. Onwards.

Was always going to be thus.

It's just not nice my friend. Many of us on here will have been affected by and lost loved ones to cancer, so perhaps it jars a bit. That's as polite as I can be.

Would be nice.

A flume, it had a flume? All we could do was go and swim, two pools and that was it. Even now I can remember the smell of chlorine as you got closer and closer to it and then when you got inside it was always knock out level.

Me neither, and I got no further than the third board either. The boards weren't the most dangerous thing in the baths though, that was reserved for the thermo-nuclear soup or hot chocolate from the cafeteria vending machine. Sixpence a pop.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Winnersaint replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Thatcher had the formidable Sir Bernard Ingham on her team and Blair had Alistair Campbell. I know the latter is still a divisive figure probably as a result the unprecedented power he exercised in the Blair Govt but both he and Ingham were masters of messaging. Confirms to me my feeling that Starmer just doesn't know how to do politics which is pretty much what you're saying. -
The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?

Yes, put into words exactly what I was thinking. Needs to be better at reading the room. -
It was a while back, possibly 8 years ago. Don't have any intention of going from there as I can do Gatwick legally in 50 mins. Next door neighbours use it a lot but they've family close to J18.

Only been there once to pick daughter up. Got off at Jct 18, what a f****** ball ache it was from there. Came back via centre of Bristol and M32 so much quicker. Take the local advice from WSS.

Can’t wait to see what 21st Jan brings in the US with Elonald Trusk in the White House.

My happy place is Skala in Kefalonia. This year however I'm taking daughter and SiL with me and they've been with me to Skala and want to go somewhere different. So we're off to Parga on the mainland. Very picturesque. Meteora is reachable but a fair journey. The Acheron River nearby is supposed to flow to Hades as it disappears underground in places and goes through deep gorges. Anywhere on the Peloponnese is full of interest as Hamilton Saint has pointed out although I'd add Monemvasia to his list also. Spent many holidaying in The Mani which is mountainous and wild. The Pelion on the east coast, again can't fault it, but only cultural references we had were to Momma Mia, some off which was shot nearby. Ithaca which is small and beautiful has links to Homers Odyssey and is easily reached from Kefalonia. The north of the latter is stunning. Assos and Fiskardo and the wild roads themselves passing Myrtos Beach are well worth a trip. Argostoli the capital is nice place too. Like Hamilton I first went to Greece in 1973. I was on the SS Uganda school cruise. Happy days of youth.
