  1. If sadly they have hung themselves at half time at least we can console ourselves with the knowledge that the feckin forum might possibly work quicker with their demise.
  2. Are some people guilty of having ridiculous expectations? We were never going to win all our games left after Oldham. It was also on the cards that we would draw a few and have the odd loss when we were expected to win. So a normal football season then? These things happen!! After all, if one of 'those things' hadn't happened on May 1st 1976 we'd have never won the cup
  3. Tony Funnell Mike Pickering Terry Gennoe
  4. Look at Stoupa. Mainland Greece southern Pelopponese. Lovely place not very commercialised at all. Have local contacts if interested.
  5. Yep! however you'd have loved the late seventies/early eighties
  6. This is a real shock' especially in light of the near miss I had in Bracknell last night with a driver of a red Audi on my cycle home. It was quite clear that the driver simply didn't see me on a roundabout and only some rapid evasive action got me out of a similar fate. I was well lit and properly attired. Don't want to preach to motorists as I am one too, but ffs look out for the cyclists!!
  7. Right I'm off to the boredom of my turbo trainer.
  8. going to be fun on here when this one ends!

  16. I've owned a 2.0 petrol Zetec Mondeo hatch since the middle of 2008. Although it isn't the fastest, it is comfortable, extremely well specced and a superb drive. I have the sports suspension on mine also. Can be a bit heavy on the juice, but that could be down to my right foot more than anything. I am due to decide what to do with it in May next year. I will either buy it outright or refinance it. I will not just be handing it back to the dealers as it has less than 20000 on the clock. Love the car.
  17. Not remote on a global scale, but certainly out in the sticks. 3rd April 1976. On Cader Idris whilst on a A level Geography field trip. Radio reception wasn't good so no-one knew what was going on at Stamford Bridge. When we did pick up a signal Man U v Derby was the commentary on Radio 2. I remember listening to the Grand National. Rag Trade was the winner and then as we got lower down the slopes we picked up the other semi on the radio again. In a break in the play Bryon Butler announced that Saints were still one up at Stamford Bridge. Cue mad celebrations at this news. A little later the commentary cut to Stamford Bridge for the pen. Cue even madder wetter celebrations. There are lot of stream and pools up there. Que Sera Sera - Whatever will be, will be - We're going to Wemberley doesn't often ring around Snowdonia

  19. Not rocket science I know but with each year fewer and fewer of us who were at Wembley are around. I was 18 and a few weeks away from my A Levels then. My dad, now in his 80's was younger than I am now. I know there are significant numbers of us around, but maybe it is about time the memories of that day were collected, and maybe this site is a good pace to do it.
  20. May 1st 2nd and 3rd 1976 are the most memorable three days in my life. Who can forget that muggy Saturday? What about the crush in the Civic Centre when the open topped bus came in? and Mick Channon's testimonial?
  21. I was locked out of the record attendance game. It was a League Cup tie v Man U. I was in the cue for the boys entrance and there were only about ten in front of me when we told the turnstiles had shut. Problem was my Dad was already in the ground, so I had to wait till the end. What about Mick Channons testimonial? Now the Dell really was a bit on the crowded side that evening.
  22. Archers on my dad's shoulders and then the funny ledge which had wooden barriers at junction of East Stand and lower end of Milton. a lot on Archers as a kid. Milton as teenager and eventually under West Stand towards Milton. Occasionally had use of STs in both ES and WS
  23. A lot of people on Charlton websites allude to Pardew being an arrogant egotistical individual. Speaking to a mate who's a big Reading fan they also remember AP as a manager full of his own self importance who hightailed it off to a WHU without a backward glance. What he did for Saints underwhelmed me in terms of our play and style and tbh he never really seemed to buy into the Cortese/Markus vision in terms of passion. Just my opinion of course.
  24. Supersoakers are great fun with cats. We once had one with an ice block to make the water colder. Got a cat right on the ring piece as it tottered along our fence tail held high a few years back. It never returned.
  25. You must be a rarity, someone who lives in Bracknell who doesn't support Chelsea.
