Would someone just tell me exactly what Boruc has done in the two games he has played for Southampton that would make him No 1. Against WHU he was in the words of the Sky team, indecisive, a performance to forget, etc. Against Spurs he certainly didn't inspire confidence.

What makes me go for Gazzaniga is that Fonte seems much more comfortable with him as goalkeeper. It's not all about the keepers themselves it's also about how the defenders respond. I don't think Fonte trusts Davis and to a lesser extent Boruc but does like playing in front of Gazzaniga.

The firat day I saw him play, he was playing right wing, somebody hit a ball dropping over him going into touch but he raised his right leg and caught the ball on his instep before it went out, went down the line and put a cross in. I was absolutely amazed. I think Bryn Elliott is still alive but he wasn't a regular in that side. RIP.

Phil Thompson said something really interesting about players slipping. His view is that the players slip because they are behind in reading the game so desperately try and change direction or stop so lose traction. If they concentrated better and were reading the game, they would be more comfortable and less likely to slip. Particularly with reference to Fonte's slip trying to clear Defoe's shot past Boruc.

How many have played 8 games against the top 9, 5 away? Statistics mean nothing unless they are comparable.
