  1. Davies was the best in the world at that time and in the forty years since I've never seen anybody that even came close. Nobody playing currently could touch him.

    Artur Boruc

In the three games I have seen him play for the club, he let in 9 goals and looked very ordinary. My view, if he was as good as some on here are making out, there is no way Davis would still be in goal, especially as Boruc looks like he has lost a lot of weight. After Davis's sub standard display yesterday, if Boruc doesn't play v Arsenal, he isn't rated and is just a back up.
  3. FFS we were lucky to get away with it, Flapper Davis versus an aerial bombardment. I don't buy this idea of bringing in Boruc he has played three games for the club and conceded 9 goals and didn't look good in any of them. Gazzaniga had a decent record apart from two very different errors, he is a much better keeper than Davis. To date Boruc has done nothing to rate a place. If he was the answer he would be in. Adkins might give Boruc a go but I think if we make a change Gazzaniga will come back in.
  4. Especially against Arsenal.
  5. If one thing Davis did today that sums him up, it was the way he intentionally just batted the ball into a bunch of players in the six yard box in the last minute of injury time. We were lucky it didn't go back in. I don't care about how good a club man he is because he is employed as a Premier League goalkeeper, he is a liability and a flapper. Gazzaniga is twice the keeper Davis is. Guly had a decent game, good cross for the goal, even the one he missed came at him like lightning but I will criticise him for one thing, instead of getting out behind Shaw he just watched until too late, Shaw was isolated, beaten, the cross came in, Jones scored. He wasn't picking anybody up and needed to cover Shaw, they may well have stopped it there. It was a decent point and we aren't playing like a relegation side. Last four away 5 points. The team played well and 13 points from the last 9 is decent form. The defensive six played well and the front four gave Stoke plenty to think about. It was nice to see Rodriguez and Lambert teaming up and each scoring.
  6. As far as I am concerned Lambert is our best striker. Lacks pace and needs to concentrate getting into the box all the time. Lambert crossing the ball from deep is a waste as he is the only good header of the ball unless JR is in there already. We need to get Ramirez on the ball as a priority, let him be the playmaker, just give him the ball wherever he is. As at Fulham we need Lambert on the field if we get a penalty, at the end of the season that could be the difference.
  7. Under FA Rules it was
  8. I thought it was 10, is it 7 in the Premier?
  9. Unusually for him not in the corner but rising and really thumped.
  10. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else taking that penalty.
  11. Davis is a sub standard goalkeeper and lucky to be even getting a game. I never criticised Lambert, the only thing I think is he doesn't get into the box enough. The goal should have been cut out by Davis but he misjudged it. When Gazzaniga made a mistake the whole bloody web went into melt down. If Davis stays in goal we will go down.
  12. I think we play better from the back with Gazzaniga, even his kicking is better. I don't think we will be bringing in another keeper unless it's the likes of Friedel being released. Davis was all over the place several times today when crosses came in. S.Davis was almost anonymous, we showed more balance with Rodriguez on and Ramirez floating out to the right.
  13. The finishing team looked reasonable. Davis had to do better for the goal, didn't have a save to make all game. He gives us nothing with ball in hand.
  14. A good move, I think that both Le Tissier and Benali are not liked because of their history re the takeover and the property issue which is really not related to the history.
  15. All finished when the club was taken over, one of my mates is a close friend, said he was sad about it as he had been with the club a long time.
  16. Watch the replay. With all the fouls he gave, no matter how slight the contact, you are right, but the one he didn't give was as much if not more of a foul than most of those he gave.
  17. Probably Adkins getting his own back. Seriously if the lad sees doubling his money as an attractive proposition it won't matter what anybody says. It's football and the same for us.
  18. Totally inconsistent. On the replay it clearly showed bodily contact pushing Mayuka, of course he went down. Webb was giving fouls all afternoon for a lot less bodily contact outside the area. If it's a foul outside the area it's a foul inside. I do feel with Webb and a few other high profile refs like Dean, Halsey, Klattenburg, if it was Van Persie,Rooney, Tevez, Torres etc they would be racing over to the penalty spot.
  19. Maybe if Schneiderlin gave him the ball instead of passing backwards and sideways we'd get more out of him.
  20. I thought he was fine, needed better service though.
  21. Cork was outnumbered in midfield because Schneiderlin was awful. We lost it in central midfield because we were closed down quickly and when we did have the ball as soon as it went to Schneiderlin it went backwards/sideways or to the opposition or the back four on the way to Davis. Even if there was space in front, more often than not he turned towards his own goal. If we have quick players up front we have to put the ball into the space behind the defenders it's just a waste of time to make them face their goal and then pass to them, today it was crying out for through balls due to the conditions making it difficult to turn. Ramirez is a good player but again he has to be given the ball we should be using him as the key playmaker, today he went long periods without seeing the ball, we need to get him on the ball as often as possible.
  22. No operation. still in brace.
  23. Forty years on does anyone even think the truth will come out. Two sides, innocents stuck in the middle, politicians etc. It's over let it go. The legend will live on depending which side of the line you stand on. Leave it there.
  24. Paine and Davies were a unique pairing. Paine was the best crosser of a ball around, whilst Davies was the best header of a ball I've ever seen.
