I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Hoedt, Lamina, Djenepo, Boufal, Diallo, Lyanco, McCarthy, Adams, Armstrong, Perrault, Carillo, etc

It's the two japanese Maeda and I think it's Kyoto (Celtic's top scorer) we should be after. We could let them have a Scottish International in part exchange. He might just find his level in that League.

I'm getting to the point when I hear who we are supposed to be chasing, then sombody else steps in and buys them, because our scouting since Koeman has been awful. Maybe it's just as well we didn't get them. I hope I'm wrong but I'm anticipating another final day thinking surely we'll sign someone/anyone then we don't or panic buy another faulty player.

From what I've seen of Semenyo, ever since he was on loan at Newport, he is quite a sharp footballer and scores his share of goals. If we aren't going after Moffi then he could probably to a job we can't do at the moment. We could in the meantime do a lot worse than give each of our young B team strikers a half hour against Blackpool to see how they cope.

Personally watching Armstrong and Adams, describing them as Strikers is ludicrous. Their finishing and composure in trying to score is just juvenile. Their timing is more like a five year old, just hands, knees and bumps a daisy, anything but a clean strike. Armstrong might put a shift in with a bit of enthusiasm but his finishing and anticipation is lacking. As for Che, as a footballer he lacks a football brain. His closing down is laughable always arriving five yards short after the ball is passed because he is not reading the game. He is always on his heels and hardly ever makes a run into the goal area anticipating a possible chance and stands watching, or just offside and doing nothing about it.. He is a liability, has no idea and is regularly squandering chances of a win. We can't afford to play him, just play him in the B team every match until he gets it and scores regularly or leaves.

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg
derry replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Adams hits the keeper Tella is burying those. He's a thick idiot, he has tried that every time and hit the keeper again, they know he is going to do that. Take it on another couple of touches and take it across the keeper, dink it, feint to shoot and take it around. No fear hit it straight at the keeper. Do something different better still leave him out completely. Alcaraz is a decent player. WTF was CC doing. That may well have cost him his place. Mara looked half decent he has to play. We need to bring in a striker. -
Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg

No FN way. Use the three cup matches to get sorted with a team. Adams standing around does nothing for us. Mara is covering a lot of ground and looks half decent. Alcaraz is well up for it but Orsic is struggling to get in the game. He's had nothing to feed off either. Diallo makes me cringe when he passes. -
According to Hampshire Live he has 18 months left on his Scholarship deal so not that straightforward.

I'm not sure we are that serious about spending otherwise could have just concentrated on what we needed which is a proven goalscorer. Maybe we need a hammering tonight and lose on Saturday to concentrate the minds. Whatever they say they would have to be stupid to even think that Adams, Armstrong and Mara are going to get goals.

Being reported we've moved on to other targets. What a load of rubbish.
-
I get the feeling it's us setting a lower valuation and not attempting to reach an acceptable compromise. We aren't going to be able to buy players on the cheap in the January window.

Being reported that Jackson on his way to Bournemouth for a medical with a €23m with addons fee agreed.

Very likely has been tapped up if not him his agent (parents) looking for a wedge.

Speculation regarding Estupinan of Hull. Everton and Forest dropped out. Against Sheff Utd he was very ordinary and so were Hull. I hope it's just clickbait.
-
That may well have been because the picture angle of the linesman was showing him in advance of the offside position not how he got there immediately after showing Mara onside.

Jones said because of his age and fitness problem they are having to manage Lavia's playing time because they fear he will break down again if he plays too many games fpr too long.

I switched it on in the middle and missed that. I just caught the end when it sounded like they were talking about soft fouls and a lack of consistency.

The program I was watching did highlights at the end of the match and reviewed it along with the goals, allowed and disallowed. It showed several angles level, then showed the linesman with his flag up twenty yards further forward. The TV showed onside and the commentators confirmed the linesman had got it wrong. It was pretty obvious he was a good yard onside and the linesman was way offline..

Dermot Gallagher on Ref Watch described it as a good save and was first to the ball.

I think people are talking about competing with centre backs when we play high balls from back to front. It says more of the stupidity of the passes because in the centre he is dominated by the big centrebacks attacking the ball. The balls need to be hit out towards the touchline he is nearest to, to give him the chance to compete against a bouncing ball where he has a good chance of winning the ball.
-
Have you been watching his games. I've seen every game he has played in the last two months. He has scored some vital game changing goals on the break thanks to his pace and composure.

I think one of the major problems is a lack of consistency between referees and VAR and the interpretation of a clear and obvious error. Against Everton Coleman cleaned out Adams with a shoulder charge in the middle of his back, nothing was given as it was in the penalty area, outside it was a foul and possibly a yellow card. Why??? At free kicks/corners defenders are holding, in some cases wrestling, hardly ever penalised. In that case the ball is dead but if referees let the kick be taken and then gave a penalty it would soon stop that. Years ago there was no holding, anybody that did stood a pretty good chance of getting an elbow in the chest or face. After I had poleaxed a player the referee just said " He had that coming" and just carried on. A hand on another player or shirt tug should be penalised with a booking that would probably stop it especially if a penalty was given. Even better in GAA football and hurling the referees have a black card for these so called professional fouls. The player is sent off immediately but a substitue replacement is allowed. Jones is talking about being more agressive. Possibly but we should be smarter. When Arsenal won the double Adams etc used to step up as the kick was taken, the opponents were offside every time. Lyanco was the first to drop back and he played Watkins onside, even if we'd held the line he was offside.

I ask myself with all the demonstrated faults especially finishing and runs into the goal area on the off chance or staying onside to take through balls etc what the hell have the coaches been doing for the last three years. Tella has improved out of all recognition under Kompany in half a season. His finishing is clinical now, he was a rabbit in the headlights before.
