All good points. I'd add that with the ball moving forward quicker and more space expected against Liverpool we should see Elia receiving the ball looking forwards rather than with his back to goal as has happened quite a bit recently.
-
Agree. 3 points is the be all and end all.
-
Well he seems a bit mixed up about it all. I wonder whether Rodgers will even start him.
-
All three seem quite downbeat. Lambert lightened up at the end when he thought about the reception the other two are going to get but otherwise they didn't give an impression of being happy with life.
-
The think big man is keeping the picture small. Meaning will emerge.
-
I don't think he is. He's replying to my post about Lallana and Lambert, not Lovren. Aldereiweld is clearly a better player than Lovren.
-
That would be like supporting Newcastle.
-
This. I went to the Steau home game and decided to take a chance on not going to the away tie in the hope that we'd go through and I've regretted it ever since. If we make it and whichever side we draw in deepest darkest Eastern Europe I'm going.

Ffs man lighten up. You're meant to enjoy this football malarkey.

I rate Tadic and I've suggested he could help us break down sides that defend deep by being given more freedom to play in and around Pelle, notwithstanding his current drop in form. But Lallana offers more than Tadic in moving teams around. He moves the ball quicker and crucially can switch play in an instant because he is strong off both sides, both in passing and moving. Saints have struggled to do both of these things against the bus parkers. Lambert has more to his game than Pelle. Lambert can be the target man like Pelle but he he has more mobility, he passes the ball generally with perfect weight and timing and there are the penalties and free kicks. Imagine if we still had both Lambert and Lallana with the pace we now have available in the squad. Lovren - ignoring his poor form for Liverpool, it was quickly apparent that Alderweireld is an upgrade.
-
We're at home. Atmosphere will be great. Team will be motivated. We have the best defence in the league . No bus parking so every chance of scoring. Why the pessimism? Very winnable this one.
-
We haven't replaced Lallana and Lambert with better players.
-
There will be swathes of St Mary's that won't boo him. As someone said earlier, hope it's a great atmosphere to help us to 3 points against a top four rival.
-
Tottenham by some distance, for the reasons given above plus Pochettino. Good coach though he is I disliked how he aligned himself with Cortese rather than the club, the way he left which turned out to be dishonest, his disingenuous comments about Southampton before the away fixture, his recent ridiculous comments about Koeman having a ready made team.

Biggest losers of the lot.

That's a pity. It was my Dad's local for many years. Thanks for the reply Mcwills.

Post-Match Reaction: Queens Park Rangers 0-1 SAINTS
Graffito replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I noticed the condition of the pitch even before kick off. A premiership club that's had millions spent on it can't even get the basics right. -
Just picked up on mention earlier in this thread of Ings having played for Hamble Harriers. Are the Harriers still going? Amazing if so. Takes me back about 40 years to the original team sponsored by the Harrier pub.

http://metro.co.uk/2015/02/07/unlucky-southampton-fan-pays-38-for-this-terrible-view-at-qpr-5053643/? Scandalous. This wasn't my view but I did feel for the poor sods in that corner. You could hear them but couldn't see them. -
Poch takes credit for Koemans work this season

He's a good coach but we have better in Koeman. We were worth a point at WHL. -
That's a bargain all the way via Crawley and across London. I was happy to pay £15 return from Euston to New St. Could have got tickets for £12 on that noddy train than runs from Marylebone to Moor St.
-
Although they are at home, do we think QPR might change tactics, sit back and hit us on the break or hope for a goal from set pieces? Swansea will not have escaped their notice. If so, then the onus is back on creating and finishing and the first goal will be important.

My guess is that it's simply a literal translation into English from a manager's own language. E.g. the Spanish "en este momento" is common and means literally "in this moment" but might be translated as "at the moment" or the awful phrase "this moment in time." As long as the speaker communicates what they mean, I don't see why it matters if the english isn't perfect. I think I know exactly what Koeman means even if what he says is grammatically incorrect and sometimes uses entirely wrong words. On the other hand I was often not entirely sure what native speaker Nigel Adkins was on about.

As said in an interview with a Catalan radio station. Perhaps he's got his eyes on the prize, his next move, the Big One. Building popular support from a public, most of which knows nothing of Saints and Tottenham and wont recognise his revisionist nonsense. On the other hand, maybe he's just ****.
