FA Cup 5th round draw thread (Sunderland Away)
Graffito replied to rickylambert's topic in The Saints
Was reasonably pleased with the draw until I saw train fares from KX. Plus a bus service if it's on Sunday. -

Gallagher looks promising. Fitting that in a week when the £15m man gets himself suspended again, a young striker comes in and scores his first senior goal that'll make his week. -
I've signed it. Thanks for posting this link. More will sign if you bring it to their attention on the main board.

Communications. For 12 months. That's funny. Maybe moron footballers is a Watford thing....of 7 years ago.... or maybe it was him. Even someone with a screw loose wouldn't appoint to its Board a Director who thinks all footballers are morons.

http://www.sportsdirectnews.com/tony-yorke/38861-have-saints-learned-nothing-from-woodward-failure.php Article speaks for itself but a few points. The author seems like a funny bloke. He's a business correspondent. He thinks all footballers are "morons". That can't be right, surely. “But the fact remains, when you’re dealing with morons who don’t listen to outsiders – which is the norm at a football club (I know because I used to be a director at one of them) – then you’ve got no chance of succeeding.” And, “Sorry Saints fans, I have to interpret the decision-making of Leibherr in recent days as coherent as that of someone with a few loose screws whose currently residing in a Hampshire nuthouse.” He notes that Kreugar has a “quest” at Saints but doesn’t say what it is, only that: “I hope I prove to be wrong and Krueger succeeds with his quest. But I think my tenner is safe, regardless whatever tripe the Saints come up with to justify this latest move.”
-
No offence intended to you at all but don't you just hate the word project being applied to a football club founded in 1885? A project is something with a finite life, a beginning, a middle and an end. Perhaps the "project" ended when Cortese went. Good riddance to "the project".

Ok I acknowledge it's your view. He won't be stood down because if he needed to justify his decision he'd do so on the basis of Brown having got a slight touch on the ball. I think that would be spurious but I've made my points on that above. As for the views of players on the tackle, this from Fonte: “That’s another thing that we need to address because it’s becoming repetitive the mistakes against us,” said Fonte, perhaps indicating he feels not enough protection is being afforded to some of the players during matches.

http://tui.fansnetwork.co.uk/forum/100038/wes-brown-tackle/#7 The sort that needs reassurance.
-
Of course they won't stand him down. Did they stand down Clattenburg? It's a refs union. And deference to your betters. Keep tugging the forelock.
-
Take a break Barry. Go for a cr@p or something and do us all a favour.

It wasn't deliberate but you can't claim it's not a foul because it was an accident as Shearer just called it on MoTD.

Post Match Reaction: Sunderland 2-2 SAINTS

Profligate in front of goal but also errors in conceding goals. Lovren played their man (Borini?) onside and maybe he'd switched off a bit having scored seconds earlier. Boruc should have saved the first. -
It just says he'd be interested in the job. I bet he would. It's a great job and he's unemployed.
-
Yet we're being told it's within the laws of the game to follow through (if indeed Brown got any meaningful touch on the ball which I think he did not). So something's wrong. Either it's a foul and a yellow (or red) as with Schneiderlin or it's perfectly legal within the laws of the game and warrants no penalty, as with Brown. That's without even considering the recklessness, degree of force etc relative to the two tackles.
-
So what are the laws of the game?
-
So if his ankle's broken is it still a fair tackle?
-
That's just not credible. A man breaks into the England team in the twilight of a career spent mostly in the lower leagues and just 12 months before a World Cup Finals, makes an impact......and the he decides to give up. And my old man said be a Pompey fan. Pull the other one.
-
Didn't Schneiderlin get a yellow earlier this season for a tackle where he very clearly took the ball first but the follow through was deemed dangerous?

What is the point of referee that cannot protect players from this. -
Sorry but that was an appalling decision.
-
You're funny.

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/columnists/paul-merson/361008/Southampton-are-living-in-a-dream-world Didn't know where to post this before it goes in the bin. Is there a thicker football pundit than this chump?

Well said. How things are done is important. Cortese had form but no class.
-
Think he'll score tomorrow.

England striker Lambert wants to stay at Saints and has two-and-a-half years left on his contract."
