Ronaldo on a free kick has to be the most over-hyped aspect in world football.

He’s done two different things that pick up a one match suspension, but there’s some ambiguity as to whether the first suspension (for accumulated yellows) that he first picked up being part of the second suspension (for two yellows leading to a red) affects it, and some ambiguity as to whether, if he does have two suspensions, due to the wording they both apply to just the semi-final rather than stacking to a two match suspension.

I don’t know. It doesn’t look like it’s being reported as two games suspended anywhere though. In Copa America the rules specify that they do stack, but the wording doesn’t seem to cover this case for the Euros rules. Might be that a ruling needs to be made by the competition on it.

The yellows get cancelled, but not the suspensions they picked up for those yellows. It just protects players from getting suspended for the final for accumulated yellows.

They’ll find it tough to get through the semi-final. Three suspended players, plus Pedri potentially out, and the extra half hour in their legs.

I actually don’t know whether the one match suspension for a red gets added to the one match suspension for the accumulated yellows he’d already picked up.

Lost count of the number of times I’ve said ‘he should have scored there…’ during this match.

Yeah, his hand looked like it was out away from his body and he subtly leaned into it as well. And now a cracking header for the goal for Spain. Looks like Germany will be out complaining about the ref here.

Blimey. Looked a stonewall penalty under the current rules to me.

Been a pretty ugly game but compelling to watch.

Admittedly I’m not a huge fan of watching road cycling, but that was a special sporting moment. Can’t imagine how he must be feeling now compared to a year ago!

Not sure they’ll have enough to see this out, but Georgia are actually giving themselves a chance here. They get a second with one of these breaks and Spain might be in a spot of trouble.

‘Tis knockout football. I’m a lot happier than the Slovakian fans that have seen a decent performance from their players tonight. Yes, we’ve been poor so far this tournament, but this group of players are clearly capable of better, and fortunately have done just enough to get through to the last 8 teams in the tournament. If we find a way to click for just three games, or even just manage to sneak our way undeservedly through, then we’re celebrating just like Greece or Portugal have in past tournaments.

Almost feels like some people will actually be more annoyed if England go on and win the tournament

Feels like he earned that with his professionalism and performances to get us over the line for promotion last season. He’s certainly shown that he’s got an excellent mentality to be a back up keeper.

Well, we’ve done what we needed to, just about. Knock out games always play out differently, we won’t be facing all out defence again like we did tonight.

Spain, Germany, Portugal and France all in the other side of the knockouts now if England top their group. With the quality of players we’ve got, we’ve got a decent chance of going deep into yet another tournament if we can get some confidence and the team starts to click.

This has been a ridiculously good tournament so far.

There's a surprise, Leeds fans trying to claim everything is about them. They're always either annoyed that they're not considered a big club any more, or annoyed that they're getting attention. It's no wonder they always seem to have a chip on their shoulder.

In that case it’s not soon, he literally already is.

Seems less likely now. There will be a lot of people loudly shouting that they’re more likely to vote Trump, mostly made up of those who were already going to vote Trump, but the difference will be made by the voters who quietly think on the day that maybe they won’t bother going to go and vote for a convicted felon.
