If that's the line you're drawing for encouraging violence like that, and the resulting violence being in any way justified, all I'll say is that it's a good job that Obama had a hell of a lot thicker skin than Trump. Trump hasn't faced anywhere near the same amount of lies about him that Obama did. You're trying to defend the indefensible there.

Considering at least some of them intended to hang people currently in charge, and people that had broken into the central chamber declared Trump the winner of the latest election, despite the result of that election, it definitely falls under the definition of attempted coup. People on both sides have been seriously hurt and killed, trying to downplay it as no worse than a Saturday Night, because of some of the footage showing less violent parts of the conflict I’d assume, is quite frankly ridiculous. How likely they were to ultimately succeed is irrelevant.

Anyone that was any part of this at all was taking their life into their own hands.

He didn't fire at a closed door, he fired at the first rioter to try and climb through the broken window. What makes you think the National Guard were anywhere near her when she got shot? (Not after, when they moved in to try and save her life, but when she got shot, surrounded by other rioters also trying to break the doors and windows)

I saw one video of one officer that did that. It doesn't mean it's not criminal trespass, it means he wasn't doing his job. I saw one report that he was a Trump supporter, although I'm not sure if that's been verified. If it was one of the officers you identified that shot her, from that door, that's the door to the upper gallery. Behind those officers were senators that were up there because of the COVID restrictions limiting numbers on the floor. They hadn't been evacuated because there was no alternate route they could evacuate them through. So that door was the last line of defence, hence the barricade and heavily armed presence at it. Also bear in mind that there had been reports of pipe-bombs being found. While she wasn't openly carrying a firearm, she was carrying a bag.

Bloody hell, maybe you really are just misinformed instead of disingenuous then. George Floyd wasn't shot, he was strangled by being knelt on the neck over the course of a few minutes. In any case, I never said she was armed, but she was certainly part of a group that included armed individuals. She had certainly committed a crime, she was trespassing, as well as breaking and entering, and was heading towards some of the most senior figures in US politics with unknown intentions. As for her being a veteran, that just means she should have known better. It certainly didn't affect in any way the officers decision, as he would have had no way of knowing that. I don't think you'll find too many allies if you're going to try and continue to suggest that shooting wasn't justified.

The Capitol was being overrun, she was part of a group of armed rioters, and they'd just broken through into the corridor leading to the vice-president's office. Just being outside too close to the Capitol building outside is grounds for an armed response, especially when the entire House and the entire Senate is there. Trying to compare her being shot in those circumstances to what happened to George Floyd is utterly disingenuous. What happened to her is tragic, but no-one should be surprised that her actions caused that response. It's a miracle she was the only one that was shot. If anything her blood is more on Trump's hands than the poor officer that shot her.

Twitter have locked his account, and reportedly his staff are preventing him from making any more press releases for the moment. It's possible we'll see the 25th Amendment actually invoked.

I was reacting more to the fact it was more or less justifying the actions they'd taken so far. It was supposed to convince people to leave and it's more likely to have the opposite effect.
