  1. Indeed. It was on the basis that they would guarantee we'd get the right sizes etc now, but in reality there will be plenty left in a couple of months when they start the Easter -> end-of-season sale.
  2. All well and good against the sides who will bring decent away followings like Leeds, but it'll be a bit pointless giving 100 Hartlepool fans a load of abuse
  3. While the saves he made looked good, if Papa Waigo and Adam Lallana had been able to put any sort of power behind their efforts, he wouldn't have had a hope in hell of saving most of them. Very frustrating.
  4. We have 14 days to pay the money owed for the gate receipts. I hope we take every second of those 14 days.
  5. Accountants in "not squeezing as much money out of its client" shocker - can't see it, personally
  6. As Chez says, that's not their remit. The Premier League could (and should) have imposed another embargo while they get this statement prepared, but that would involve them actually growing a pair first.
  7. Legally, they haven't... yet. That will come around this time next week.
  8. Let's look at it logically - from what I remember, the Premier League requires a majority of 14:6 when voting on major decisions. Obviously Pompey won't be able to vote, whether that makes the quorum 13:6 or 14:5, I've no idea. For prudence, let's assume the lowest scenario. Teams who Pompey have beaten this season: Wolves Wigan Burnley Liverpool I think it's fair to say that none of these teams will be willing to help Pompey out. If they go under, each of these teams will benefit from their defeats being erased from the records, so they won't lose any points. 4 against the bailout Teams that have beaten Pompey twice: Fulham Arsenal Man City Man United It's fairly safe to say that Fulham, Manchester City and Arsenal will want Pompey to survive. For City and Arsenal, that is because Liverpool dropped three points against Pompey. For Fulham, while relegation is unlikely, Pompey's records being erased would bring them one point closer to the relegation zone (8 points clear instead of 9), and would take them further away from the Europa League qualifying places (11 points instead of 9). It's not quite so clear-cut for Manchester United - while they would lose ground on Chelsea to increase the gap to 4 points instead of 1, they would have a game in hand, and they would expect Chelsea to beat Pompey in their second game anyway. 3 in favour of the bailout, 1 undecided Teams that have beaten Pompey in the only game they've played against them so far: Birmingham Bolton Aston Villa Everton Tottenham Blackburn Stoke Chelsea Unlikely that any of these teams would want Pompey to go bust this season. They've got another game to play against them, and already have 3 points in the bag from the first meeting. 8 in favour of the bailout The rest: Sunderland West Ham Hull West Ham collected 4 points from Pompey - they'll probably be quite happy with that at the moment. They'd drop from 14th to 18th, 3 points from safety, if those points were taken away. Hull only picked up 1 point from the game at the KC Stadium - would they fancy their chances at Fratton Park? Sunderland don't have that option, they conceded injury-time equalisers home and away and will expect other teams around them to pick up points against Pompey, With the records expunged, they'd increase the gap between them and the relegation zone from 3 to 4 points. 1 in favour of the bailout, 1 against, 1 undecided So I make that 12 definitely in favour of the bailout, 5 definitely against it, and 2 undecided - I suspect Hull would lean slightly towards the "against" vote, which would be enough to veto it.
  9. The Press Association, I'd imagine.
  10. Morning all I've now got most of the details for this year's forum match at St Mary's, which will take place on Thursday 27th May, kick-off 18:45. The details are very similar to last year. There will be two squads of 16, with six 90-minute slots on each team, the remainder being 45-minute slots. The cost for a 90-minute slot will be £240 The cost for a 45-minute slot will be £120 The cost for a manager will be £50 The reason the cost has gone up slightly this year (£10 and £5 respectively) is because, as yet, we have not reached agreement with the club over the cost of the kits, which are included in the price. At the moment, they are only offering us a 10% bulk discount on current RRP - considering they will probably be reduced to a tenner in a month or two, that's not an offer that is acceptable to me. As a result, we have had to budget for a bit more than last year just in case, but any excess can either be refunded pro-rata once we do know how much it'll be, or it can be donated to charity instead. Initially, this event is open to Full Members Only - Full Members have until Noon on Friday 19th February to register their interest. If there are still spaces available when this deadline passes, it will be opened to ordinary Registered Users. Those who are successful in their applications will need to pay their money by Noon on Friday 5th March - this is a longer time period than I really want, but it does allow for those who get paid right at the start or end of the month to get the money together. Full Members are invited to register their interest via email to playatsms@saintsweb.co.uk - applications should contain ALL of the following information: Forum Username Real Name Contact E-Mail Address Contact Phone Number Age (don't worry, I won't tell anyone ) Three Preferred Positions, in order. Positions are GK, RB, LB, CB, RM, LM, CM, ST, or a general DF or MF is fine (and more flexible ) Preference of 90 or 45 minutes Willing to accept different duration if preferred slot is unavailable Playing standard - this is so I can try to balance the teams as much as possible Any questions? UPDATE 19th Feb As the deadline for Full Member registrations has passed, I am now throwing this open to all members of the forum. Please note that at the time of writing, there are only TWO slots left, both of which are 45-minute defensive positions. UPDATE 25th Feb All places are now filled, with provisional lineups below. Those without a squad number next to them show either that they have not responded to my payment details email or that they responded but did not choose a number. If the latter, not too much of an issue, if the former, I need to know that everyone has received the email and will make the payment on time. UPDATE 29th Mar A place has become available, left-midfield for the home team (90 minutes). Anyone wishing to take this place, please get in contact asap. 11. While I could see the Premier League doing it to protect the "brand image", I can only see that ending in one way - with a massive court case, brought by teams who are perceived to be disadvantaged by the proposed bailout.
  12. Very much so. I'd have thought the FD is the first person scrutinised when a company is found to be trading while insolvent.
  13. Wonder if he used Johnstone's paint...
  14. Both, I'd have thought...
  15. I've just deleted all that crap, I'm not having this thread ruined by a load of completely unrelated nonsense. If you want to hurl insults at each other, go somewhere else.
  16. Engineering works between Surbiton and Clapham Junction that day says otherwise. http://www.laterooms.com/en/p8800/Hotels.aspx?hidfl=&k=London&d=20100327&n=2&rt=1-0&currencies=GBP&LonLat= has loads of hotels...
  17. All of the "London" airports have decent and direct links into the city, so take your pick. Ryanair probably fly to Gatwick, Luton or Stansted. For hotels on that weekend, check here: http://www.laterooms.com/en/p8800/k16295585_london-hotels.aspx
  18. The latter, I think. They've bizarrely appointed Vantis, who are run by none other than our old friend Ken "Agent Orange" Dulieu...
  19. £500k, I believe. Not to be sniffed at...
  20. It's the Nigeria '94 goal celebration... pretend you're a dog, crawl to the corner flag and p!ss on it
  21. Highlights up on the Beeb: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8509478.stm
  22. But it may ultimately be a pivotal day in that those responsible may now be held to account if it is proven that they were trading while insolvent. Storrie and friends may end up being held personally liable for some of the costs incurred by the club.
  23. Surely game over then?
  24. Interesting. "Torres" is there. Apparently it's started already, Pompey have got Vantis working for them (remember them?! Ken Dulieu and friends), and apparently there have been "two serious offers to buy the club in the last 12 hours"...
