Vote for MLT as the greatest ever Premier League striker

Still 19% but only behind Shearer ( 31%) and Henry ( 25%) and both were clearly out and out strikers. 4th place is Cantona with only 5%. -

548 all out, Tahir 77 not out ( off 77 balls) and Briggs 36 put on 90 for the last wicket ! Cork made 52 as well. Rather suggests though the pitch isn't as bad as I had hoped though I guess we'll find out when our spinners bowl.
-
Still going well on 331/5. Adams 140 odd not out, Pothas just out for a useful 41. Dimi in at 7, we SHOULD get 400 now !

A salary cap has been in place for years in Rugby League with points deducted for team who break it. A few teams have in the past and paid the price points wise but seem to have learnt their lesson. It has not detracted at all from the game, it is still possible to have high profile overseas players in the game but it has levelled the playing field a lot. Tomorrow is the Challenge Cup Final and it is a final which would probably not have happened 5 years ago, Warrington v Huddersfileld. There are also a lot of very good young British players coming through as well and a lot of teams including Leeds, Wigan and St Helens are placing a lot of emphasis on this and hopefully in 2-3 years the GB team will be able to compete with Australia who aside from losing the WC to New Zealand last year have dominated for years.

That is definite then, we'll not be signing him !
-
I don't think the Star is to be taken too seriously though this player was mentioned on another thread, he would certainly be a good signing for us.
-
It would certainly be a very good time to win and with the pitch taking spin already and with a decent weather forecast for Friday and Saturday though possibly showers on Sunday we must have a good chance with 286/4 looking good in view of the pitch report. It is very tight from 2-8 with the only reasonable certainties being that Durham will finish top and Worcester bottom. Worcs are very probably going to beat Notts and Warwicks are well on top v Yorks. 1 Durham 12 186 2 Nottinghamshire 12 149 3 Somerset 12 146 4 Lancashire 13 138 5 Sussex 12 120 6 Warwickshire 12 119 7 Yorkshire 12 117 8 Hampshire 12 2 116 9 Worcestershire 11 57

If memory serves then I believe Everton scored a very late goal in the 2004/05 game when we ended up drawing 2-2 in a game we should have won. Those 2 points would have put us safe but whether it actually proves anything other than that there is a fine line between success and failure is another matter. Of course Arsenal also infamously scored a goal v us in the 97th minute which probably proves nothing either but these goals do tend to stick in your memory !
-
Well if you wondering why you have never won that's probably the reason given the numbers are 1-49 !!

As per a survey carried out by Cricinfo, somewhat controversially I reckon they came up with this : http://www.cricinfo.com/england/content/current/story/422490.html 1. Don't exaggerate !! I did remember that thread but a) couldn't be bothered to look for it ! and b) was not sure if the 40 over figure had been agreed though this bit of the report : "and a Sunday afternoon limited-overs competition." did have me thinking it would be 40 overs as of course the Sunday League in all it's guises has I believe always been 40 overs. Don't know why they could not start earlier though and make it 50 overs.

Is the work permit problem resolved ?
-
Which is quite an achievement TBH
-
Good luck to him, always gave 100% but with several young bowlers coming through it's the right decision. Hope he can find another county.
-
Yorks are struggling at Scrarborough, 99/7 in reply to Warwickshire's 320 who have Sreesanth playing for them. Has taken 4/39.
-
286/4 at close of play. Slow going at just under 3 an over which suggests it's not a quick batting track. Adams 113 not and good to see Pothas back, he is 27 not out. Ervine was out "hit wicket" which is quite unusual. 350-400 might be a good score and should be well within our scope with Dimi, Cork and the 3 bowlers to come. Banks who bowls right arm offbreaks took 3/79 which is encouraging for our spinners.

60, 50, 40.......... of course it is heading inevitably it seems towards 20/20 only for one day games. 13-5 in favour the vote, I find that extraordinary but wonder who the 5 were? Hants as FP holders maybe, does anyone know who voted against ? Quite ridiculous decision, I don't know anyone who would want the 50 over tourney to be scrapped.
-
Well I think with this being the last Pro 40 tourney, at least for now, it's a good chance to give younger players experience. I think now though Griffiths will stay in the team and may even get selected for the 4 day games.
-
Should be easy on the basis of that footage to identify a number of the worst offenders, trouble is then they should be locked up and not given ineffectual banning orders which are generally pretty pointless. Also West Ham must be punished and removed from the competition at the very least. Disgraceful, reminds me of Saints having to leave the pitch back in the mid 90's during the crucial last game of the season when 3-2 ahead. Luckily the WHU equaliser when they returned proved to be of no consquence since we were already safe.
-
As opposed to a Packard Bell PC that is clearly true, I wonder if the use of that name is designed to confuse ?
-
Seems like a very good performance and in many ways the result is of less importance. Another game to get the team playing together ( though of course several of our first choice players were missing or on the bench). No surprise at all about the performance of the ref, the standard of referees has long been a major issue IMO.
-
Yes, Griffiths was bowling up around 90mph and had very good control, I was impressed. Last year of the Pro 40 so would be nice to win it though I'd rather we stayed in CC1 !
