Clearly it will take time to rebuild from the shambles created over the past few years. From my own perspective and not having lived in Southampton since 1980 I've almost been able to let what has gone on wash over my head though that is also due in part to the fact that my enthusiasm for football in general has waned over recent years. Indeed it is quite probable that if Saints did not exist my interest would be confined to England and Euro/World Cup matches. However, the true nature of any fan is that it is impossible to simply let go of something you cherish and so despite the pain of recent years I still love the Saints, still wear my Saints T shirt etc; The hope is your faith will eventually be rewarded and it finally is looking like it will.So I'm also excited, a feeling I have not had for a long time so roll on the new season i say !!

According to that MLT as chairman is good news which it clearly is but the bad news is he might bring in KK. Well that's clearly a matter of opinion and not one I agree with.
-
Sounds about what one would expect, at least if the takeover is confirmed and Le Tiss as Chairman that in itself will be a great leap forward. I would reckon with Le Tiss on board we are far more likely to get a top rate manager even if it's not Keegan. He's obviously very highly regarded throughout the game and even if it is not KK we get as manager I'm pretty sure we'll not be disappointed when we finally do appoint someone.
-
Don't think so but it's definitely a possibility that may sign sometime soon or that he may not
-
I keep thinking back to the Bill Shankly quote when he said something along the lines of football not being a matter of life or death but actually more important! From reading through the myriad of threads/posts on here I'm beginning to think he was right all along !!!
-
One thing is certain and that even the possibility of KK as manager has prompted a tremendous reaction or in some cases an over reaction. Personally I think having Keegan at the club could only be good for us. The interest and excitement generated which will already be great as soon as the proposed take over takes place ( and we should not have long to wait now!) will only intensify and surely generate much positive publicitly. Let's not forget Keegan is one of the greats of English football and though I was unhappy as were many at the manner of his departure as a player in 1982 that's now ancient history. His managerial record is far better than many people tend to suggest and as for quitting when the going gets tough I doubt anyone other than those directly involved know the full facts behind that. What is sure is that if I were doing a job when I didn't need the money and it became too much hassle I'd leave too and anyone who said they wouldn't do the same would have to be liars or stark raving bonkers!
-
In other words E=MC2 Sorry, this whole debate is cracking me up, what I am sure of is that KK has been a manager of a team in the 3rd tier of English football!!
-
Well just that he's 4/7 with Skybet NOT to be manager and if anyone is likely to be in the know it's Sky/Skybet.
-
Yes, you just beat me to it!
-
Tremlett has got a 4th, now 135-7 which is usually the point at which things start to go pear shaped
-
Hmm, so you decided to go with Yeats, heart or head !? Anyway as Monsiuer Chevalier, July Jasmine, , Freemantle and Highland Glen each have at least 2 people tipping them this could be the make or break day !! Oh and Patkai and Yeats in the 3.45 and Emirates Roadshow in the 4.20 lottery ! So the concensus would appear to be: 2.30 M Chevalier 3.05 July Jasmine 3.45 Yeats/Patkai 4.20 Emirates Roadshow 4.55 Freemantle 5.30 Highland Glen Will be an interesting afternoon, only 15 minutes before Monsieur Chevalier gets us off to a flying start.........or maybe not!
-
Ok, if it loses we'll blame you for putting the jinx on it
-
Now 120-6. Tremlett has 3-34. Big question now is can we prevent another tail enders revival ??
-
Thanks, it is actually 28/1 with William Hill !
-
Ah t'is now 101-5 and they have amended the scorecard and it seems Tremlett got Laxman and has now got Du Plessis.
-
101-4, 2 for Dimi and 2 for Cork. Vince is playing so Hants team is Adams, Carberry, Lumb, Vince, Benham, Pothas, Dimi, Cork, Tahir, Tremlett, Tomlinson. Would be nice to see Tremlett get a few wickets though I suspect he's more likely to get injured again !

2.30 Monsieur Chevalier. Seems this is our banker of the day. 3.05 Sorry Hatch but I'm with July Jasmine too. Has been very well supported this morning, I did see 9/1 earlier but best price now is 13/2. 3.45 I think this is simply a case of whether Yeats can run to his true form but that's by no means a certainty so 2/1 does not appeal. So though I'd love him to win for a record 4th time in a row I'm going to opt for Veracity whose record reads 113-213 so looks a very good bet to make the frame at around 13/2. 4.20 Hats off to anyone who picks the winner of this race. Could name half a dozen and still not be confident that any will even be placed. However, somewhere in the back of my mind I seem to recall hearing good vibes for Mutamaashi and it has been backed this morning also so I'm going for that one though Brief Encounter has also so been well supported so maybe 50p on each for me ! 4.55 Freemantle (probably do a win double with Monsieur Chevalier) 5.30 Highland Glen Should appreciate the fast ground and looks decent value at 11/1

I've mentioned these guys before but for less than a tenner they'll give you tips for each race, I think they give a best bet, next best bet and "lively outsider" for each race so 3 tips for each race is the only downside for me. They do refund your money if they don't find at least 3 winners though that's not really any consolation if you've done your money! However, it does enable you to have an interest in each race and if you just stick to backing horses at decent odds, say 5/1+ ( usually the outsider will be a much bigger price) then that will make the day more interesting and maybe you'll make some money in the process! http://www.thesportsinvestor.co.uk/marks_your_card.php

Slightly off topic but still on the subject of Banks the Natwest in Shirley gave my personal details to my Dad( including a copy of my bank statement) without any authorisation from myself. It's lucky I live in Watford as I hit the roof when I found out. When I phoned they could not even tell me who it was ! Anyway as it happened to be a male member of staff and they only had one guy working there even they managed to deduce who it was though they never did answer why they could not simply find out by doing an audit trail. They said they would make staff aware that they were not to give out personal details to anyone other than the account holder, my reply was something along the lines that I'd prefer it if they didn't employ idiots who weren't aware of the obvious !

Yep, At the Races is an excellent site IMO. If you mean can you be alerted when one of your horses is running then Easyodds will do that for free. All you need to do is register: http://www.easyodds.com/index.html

I'm sure there will be some posted tomorrow ! Personally I always wait till I have my Racing Post plus all the online info ( eg ATR site) before trying to find more losers
-
Yep, the day at least ended well with Jealous Again looking the winner all the way and the 2 Channon horses placed albeit I only backed Please Sing ew at 25/1 this morning so the SP of 14/1 was shorted than I anticipated.

I make a point of leaving as little as possible in my current acount and the rest in an online savings account which I can transfer immediately into my current account when I need it. It's clearly not foolproof as there is always a time lag between transferring the money and using it but it's generally just a matter of a few hours. I did have my credit card used illegally a few years back, one reason for my caution now, though I did have it refunded but it took a few weeks I recall. I would say if you have a decent back then they ought to offer you an interest free overdraft if you need it until the funds are returned. Then again dealing with banks never seems to be that easy does it.

Lol, that was typical of big John. I stll chuckle at the time he was amazingly selected to play for England B. Fair to say he did not cover himself in glory by managing the rare feat of scoring 2 own goals
