  1. Don't forget Essex have Napier, Bopara and Foster with England and they'll miss them more than we miss Dimi. KP does not even enter the equation as he's a Hants player in name only, I doubt he'll ever play a game for us again ! Kent have Key with England though no one else I think ?
  2. If we're renamed Southampton United FC I'll eat my trilby!
  3. My thoughts exactly !
  4. Personally I would have loved any of the nutters who were in grave danger of topping themselves to have won and then achieved their clear ambition to do precisely that in front of HRH
  5. Yep, and of course a tremendous amount of area to search even allowing of course for the fact that they will clearly have an indication of the area. Apparently the Atlantic comprises 106.4 million square kilometres (41.1 million square miles).
  6. Well of course they are still searching though there seems to be a possibility they may not find any trace of the plane: Kieran Daly, editor of internet news service Air Transport Intelligence, said it was "absolutely imperative" that the black box flight recorder was found. He went on: "If it's not recovered we may never know exactly what happened and the implications of this would be enormous."
  7. Yes, I watched ATR ! Luckily my only Windsor bet was Toy Top with many thanks to Hugh Taylor on the ATR website, is in cracking form !!
  8. Ripon 3.00 Joinedupwriting Ripon 3.30 Grazeon Gold Blend Ripon 5.00 Hurricane Thomas Southwell 3.45 Avoir Choisi Listowel 7.30 Billy No Mates ( Has to be my NAP!)
  9. Rather unfair IMO to single out Wayne Thomas when generally it's the overseas players who pick up their pay packet when they really should be too ashamed. Of course we have had some great/very good players from overseas ( Golac, Eklund, Svensson x 2 etc) but many have been a total waste of money.
  10. Well the Premier League fixtures come out in a few weeks, 17th June I believe so I imagine all the other leagues will be released at the same time so not long to wait if that is the case. Always used to be but with the Premier League now a law until itself I can't be sure.
  11. Well things tend to go in circles when referring to clubs like Pompey and Saints. I can recall very clearly the 3 years I spent studying at Portsmouth Poly 1975/78. When I started we were both in Div 2 as it was then. By the time I left we had just got promoted and of course won the FA Cup, Pompey had just been relegated to Division 4 which mirrors pretty much the story of recent times. Those were great years and of course I had the bragging rights over the many Pompey fans I knew and who were friends. For this reason I have never really bought into the Saints/Pompey antipathy. For sure they do have probably more than there fair share of morons but having known many fans who were just ordinary fans I find it hard to feel too much ill will towards them. Maybe I'm in a minority of one though I will say I HATE losing to them as much as the next Saints fan !
  12. And them some! Newcastle fans are almost as delusional as Spurs fans who think they are a "great" club. We know exactly what our expectations are I suggest, a good club who belong in the Premiership but never in a million years will we win it and a spot in Europe the most we could ever hope for. For the time being we are where we are due to a series of disastrous decisions and if we start on -10 next year then with the teams in League One a play off spot is probably the best we can hope for. I'm just going to enjoy the fact we still have a club and that is largely down to one person. If that is ever forgotten then quite frankly it would be astonishing and a disgrace. Lets not kid ourselves that life is going to be a bed of roses but we have an unbelievable outcome to our perilous plight and as many would agree Matt is up there with Ted Bates and having witnessed many of the Ted Bates years there really is no higher praise than that.
  13. As I said on the OTHER thread ( ) it will surely never happen. I'm sure Matt is astute enough to be a pretty wealthy guy notwithstanding the clear fact he could have made a lot more money if he had ever asked for a transfer. He is in this purely for his love of the club and like us all is a true supporter in every sense. It's been referred to many times his reaction on Sky when Saints scored the goal that staved off relegation last season. An extraordinary person but totally genuine, modest and a real breath of fresh air in the current climate of overpaid, arrogant players who blight our game. He's a true one off and we are incredibly lucky to have him associated with the club. It's been years since anything as good as this has happened to us and I for one am truly going to look on the bright side of life.
  14. Sorry, but this just has to be done !!
  15. Oi, this is a serious thread
  16. That would probably be the case with any normal person but even those hardly able to walk know and appreciate Le Tiss. Personally I'd be surprised if that ever happened and as I said before I think anyone who decided to turn on him would quickly be put in their place. Hopefully though we'll never need to know, let's be really positive!!
  17. On a par with '76! ?
  18. I don't think anyone would dare turn on him if they value their life!
  19. Very hard in 20/20 to be fair! The shorter the game the more luck can even things out and often the toss is vital.
  20. Good bet but 16's are available on Betfair. Not sure about the Betting Forum, seems to have been removed without a by your leave, still think it's a disgrace and still waiting ( in vain I'm sure) for some kind of explanation/apology.
  21. Bordering on libellous but quite possibly true
  22. As I previously posted : "LOL I don't recall us ever losing to them albeit it is going back many years since we played in the same Division ( 77/78 I would imagine as a draw there in our penultimate game all but sealed promotion as did the 1-1 back in 65/66) So I have happy memories of Leyton Orient !! " I would add now I remember that part of a wall collapsed at their crappy ground during the 77/78 game but luckily as I recall no one was badly hurt. Good old Tony Funnell scored our goal and if my memory is really good I think he was only playing because 2 other strikers, Austin Hayes and Tony Sealey ? ) were injured.
  23. Hard to imagine any sane person having a bad word about the likes of Channon, Ossie, Bally, Golac etc etc; But then again there are plenty of insane people about, many of whom seem to congregate on here
  24. Unfortunately certain idiots have caused trouble at 20/20 games so the ban is reasonable as it has to be for all counties or none. To be honest though a game of 20/20does not last that long so plenty of time for drinking before or after. I'd be more concerned about the entry price as £20 is a bit steep.
  25. I think it should be Sir Saint Matty TBH !!
