  1. Actually, that's a fair point. I'm sure if the boot was on the other foot... We can gloat at the end of the season
  2. The write up in the Sunday Times was positive towards Saints albeit not a large report compared to some other matches.
  3. You lot are a little strange. I am very grateful for what LM did for Saints and appreciate his charity work (not quite sure where I wrote that I wasn't). All I said was that it is unlikely that he would be knighted. Where does it say he get a KBE or Kt? You're all so quick to pounce aren't you?
  4. Not likey is it. Becoming a Knight of the Realm that is.
  5. You are wrong. I refer you to the professionals: http://www.compasspartnership.co.uk/knowledge/leadership/what_makes_an_effective_ceo.php especially #3 and I quote "...The temptation is to give relationships a higher priority when in practice the long-term interest of the organisation should be paramount. Authority used effectively increases people‘s respect for the leader."
  6. I like the idea of a return to blue shorts! Let's keep the South/Latin American vibe to our kit!

  8. Nonsense. Aesthetics is subjective. Heritage and tradition are different branches of the same tree. The kit celebrates our heritage not necessarily our tradition. You don't have to have been there to appreciate heritage, you simply need to have an appreciation of the importance of our past. You can't get more important than our founding. Playing in red and white stripes is customary and will no doubt return next season. The red sash is celebrating the 125th anniversary. It's actually quite straight forward. As for what a cynic might think. Don't all clubs modify their kits every now and then to seperate us from our hard earned cash? Red sash or stripes, I suspect many of us who bought the new kit would have purchased a striped kit. Your precious stripes will be beack soon.
  9. I love our current "retro" kit and would be more than happy to see us continue with it. If only our away kit was better!
  10. I and some work colleagues are partaking in Movember this year. Would be great to see the club/players get involved! Someone should contact the club.
  11. The first rule of debate: if you compare someone to Hitler you've lost the argument. Silly, silly comment.
  12. You have no right to know why he was sacked. Get over yourself and support your football club.
  13. I still think we'll get automatic promotion this season. It seems you lot aren't happy unless you're unhappy! It's always doom and gloom for some on here.
  14. It baffles me why so many Saints fans are so quick to judge Cortese in the negative and take anyone else's word against his. IMO he has conducted himself professionally and all this guess work to justify a distrust and/or hatred of our Chairman seems unhinged! ML trusted him with his money and his club (and it appears the family do in general). It appears he has the best interests of our club at hear and wants us to be successful - all things a club like ours needs! I wonder whether some people here will ever be happy or simply enjoy moaning. NC has always had my full support, even when he appears to make errors (e.g. photography ban) and he will continue to get my support as long as his ambitions lie with our club. Cut him some slack!
  15. Agreed!

    Dull

The possible appointment confirms nothing otherwise it would be the definate appointment!
  17. The "British Isles" is a geographical area containing the Island of Ireland (Ulster and Eire), Great Britain (England, Wales & Scotland) and the surrounding outlying islands such as the Isle of Man and Channel Islands. It is not a political entity or a nation state. The UK is a political entity containing Great Britain and Northern Island (part of ther island of Ireland) It really isn't that complicated. So yes, Ireland is in fact in the British Isles but this doesn't mean it is part of Britain which is purley a political construct as well as a geographical area within the wider British Isles!
  18. Yes, but that doesn't exclude those born in Northern Ireland from being British. I guess it depends of points of view. Technically you don't need to be born in "Great Britain (i.e. England, Wales or Scotland)" to be "British".
  19. Oh good, someone who speaks a little sense.
  20. Actually not all of us spout nonsense at every rumour we hear. Some of us just don't use any old rubbish to bash the bloke in charge. Call it preaching if you like but that's how I feel.
  21. I've read this topic from beginning to end and cannot believe some of the vitriolic statements made towards NC! It seems that even a weak rumour is an excuse for some to slate our chairman for being driven and ambitious. I doubt that anyone on this forum knows the full reasons why Pardew was dismissed. You never know he may have been pushed before he jumped! Yet, some on here are calling for Cortese to leave the club. For Heaven's sake get a grip! Is our chairman really that stupid? Or is it that some Saints fans cannot help but tackle the "powers that be" because he doesn't fit their mould of an everyman traditional football establishment character. The only thing about SFC that is a laughing stock is some of its so called fans! Let's all just wait and see. I'm sure most of us will be pleased (for the record I liked what Pardew was doing here).
  22. Actually the law states that he does have the right. Lobby your MP for a change in the law if it distresses you that much. I agree there are alternative methods but the police officer was within his rights to do so.
  23. Thank you Markus. I doubt you ever truely knew the debt of gratitude owed to you by us. You were a Saint through and through and will be forever remembered with affection as the man who saved the Saints. When all of us are forgotten, Saints' fans will still be talking about you. R.I.P “We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.” - COYR!
  24. That's not strictly true. There is plenty of credible evidence (by scientific peer review standards rather than internet message boards standards) that suggests black clothing actually has a cooling effect on the body (as long as it's loose). But that's got nothing to do with whether one should like the design of a kit or not.
  25. Not a fan of black kits. I would have liked a yellow shirt with blue shorts and yellow socks. Oh well, if that's the only thing I have to moan about regarding Saints then I'll be a happy man
