I recently read the excellent (imo) Spike Island by Philip Hoare, which focuses largely on the history of Netley Military Hospital. Apparently, there was an apparition known as the ‘Grey Lady’ that was regularly seen about the hospital throughout its 110 year history, and came to be regarded as a portent of death. Being somewhat sceptical, myself, I tend to look for scientific, medical or psychological etc reasons for phenomena such as these, whilst, at the same time, hedging my bets by keeping an open mind – although, hopefully, not so open that my brain falls out. What I find intriguing about this photo, aside from the mysterious apparition, is the strange garb of the blonde haired woman. Is she wearing a backless basque over her pink tee-shirt?

That is an excellent, extremely well-deserved and very appropriate tribute to Markus! Well done Saints. We March On.

I was a regular on the UI in its very early days. No registration, virtually no regulation, multiple user names, posters stealing one another’s identities, opposition supporters dropping in en masse, several Pompey lunatics in permanent residence – a bit like the forum equivalent of football on the terraces in the 70s and 80s! I remember one time it all kicked off and led to a Pompey fan posting the name and address of one of the Saints posters, whilst encouraging his fellow skates to go round and set fire to his house … or something! Have to say, though, in amongst all of the madness and mayhem, there was a lot of good discussion and banter. For a long time now, mainly due to time constraints, I’ve limited myself to posting solely on here; I’m guessing things have become a lot more regulated on the UI over the years?

Yeah, pack it in fellas – it can’t be nice for a mother to have her trousers ripped to shreds by a gang of mouthy blokes.
