I remember years back when Sunderland were doing their yo-yoing between leagues. They interviewed some old boy and asked him 'you must be really disappointed on the relegation?'. I would say there are definitely questions regarding injuries. Are our weekly sessions and preparation 'correct'? Are our Sports Science staff up to the job? Appreciate the season is compressed this year and several clubs are having challenges with injuries but there are plenty who aren't. Some will be masked by greater squad depth I take that but I do question whether 'we' are somewhat to blame for our inability to get 11 decent players on the pitch each week.

I know most clubs are complaining wrt injuries in this compacted schedule but we seem to have issues that raise the question over one or more of fitness, training techniques, playing style or whether our behind the scenes sports science team are up to the job.

The Club have not made that request. It appears to be some made-up pony.

Our injury position is not normal. Going off tangent somewhat, but it raises questions as to what and why this is happening and whether we have the right training and medical staff in place for the high press / tempo style we try to play.

It's fairly obvious that those comments were made to tow the Club line based on the fact we couldn't afford a squad of the needed quality. No manager in the history of the game has ever wanted to hamstring himself with limiting their options. I'm amazed anyone fell for this Club spin.
