And the same period of 2020 will see the death rate around 50% higher than the normal rate at this time of the year and who knows what that figure would have been without the controls put in place.
-
Lots of clubs doing the same at the moment. Amazing how quickly they can get the new surface up and running.

Some player that Bertrand / bertrand fella!

I was rather addressing Bangkok's point about player contact. And yes you are of course right. There's a lot to work out but you know that football is a multi-billion pound game so I actually don't think the costs of testing will be an issue in monetary terms but the opportunity cost ie ensuring that frontline / key etc workers not being compromised on their testing etc maybe more of an issue.
-
I'm assuming one of the criteria to be met is that all players and coaching staff will be tested beforehand and regularly thereafter.

I saw Richards at the Botley Park Hotel the evening before he signed. If I recall correctly he was one of those signings without much prior build-up or widespread knowledge?
-
No one is saying all of them and I should have been clearer. ‘Some’ may have been a more appropriate word. One is too many of course. Especially if it could be prevented.
-
I’m not ‘trying’ to say anything. I’m making an observation. I think that’s obvious.

They may well have contracted CV outside of their line of work.
-
Bottom line is you don’t know but that’s seemingly not stopping you getting all bent out of shape about it.

Yes, as I said I over-simplified it but the fact that the Gov will receive 45% taxation from the players wages far exceeds what they would pay SFC employees on the furlough scheme so as we are not taking advantage of it is a massive help to the Gov coffers. Albeit some of that tax might be delayed a few months.
-
Well I guess either the Government get 45% tax from the players wages or they pay 80% of the salaries so it's a win-win either way. Yes, I've over-simplified it.

Che Adams has posted the PlayersTogether initiative as has Romeu and others so they are doing their bit. Hopefully you are too.

100% this. Somewhat of a curveball from Gao. Interesting.

No, he was doing his bit to support a couple of self-employed ladies too!

Really? That was one throw-away comment in an hour+ extensive and detailed update in response to a specific media question.

WBA have released a statement that Austin has NOT tested positive for Coronavirus. He really is some sort of grade A knobber. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11961147/coronavirus-west-brom-clarify-charlie-austin-has-not-tested-positive
-
That is exactly the reason.

If it wasn’t so serious I’d find some of these comments comical. The Government are giving advice based on the advice of an extensive array of experts and the response from some seems to be I’m going to ignore that because I’ll get a bit bored. Well, being a tad bored for a few weeks is better than one of the alternative options.

As someone who spends most of his time pointing out the blindingly obvious I’m surprised you didn’t mention to the OP that there is already a 10 page thread running on this topic?

A brief article. Nothing exciting. https://apple.news/ARZH6hB24TxqwGi93h2t5Zw

I thought I was clear. It’s not an issue of not spending money. It’s the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing. Ralph was working on bringing players in and talking this up whereas, in reality, this was never going to happen with the financial position of the club. Comprende?
-
If they indeed did it was well into the window as, on more than once occasion, Ralph talked positively about strengthening in the FB areas in particular. Still a shambles whichever way it's dressed up.
