Until an acceptable offer is on the table, our future hangs in the balance. Nail biting time...

Meanwhile, back to the article... It's a good read and hopefully a reminder to others just how fragile top flight football existence is (Pompey grave dancers). I think I liked the bit about Jordan the best (not the country, dubai phil). :-)

Out of business = out of the league and the end of SFC. No choice, really. If Lowe takes over again at least we know he's not immortal - it would end eventually. Any new club just could not be SFC. If it was the only choice, it would get my support. I just couldn't bring myself to truly support any other existing team. Let's just hope it doesn't come to that - looks like we'll find out within a week or so.

Now, now - only the ones on Portsea Island are like that ;-)

If you heard him on R5 the other day you would know that he puts the blame for our current predicament squarely at the feet of Lowe and Wilde. A little anti-Lowe stirring might just show to outside parties just exactly what the general feeling about Lowe really is and deter any potential investors his lordship may have spoken to. All IMHO, of course.

Saints 2-2 Burnley Post Match Reaction - Saints Relegated
Leslie Charteris replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
Onwards and upwards! Now get some new owners in with a bit of football nous, a manager who can galvanize a team and a few wins to knock off the 10 point deduction. Wouldn't it be great to win more matches than we lose in a season - that hasn't happened too often in recent times. And well done Bournemouth for avoiding the drop even with a -17 start. -
Ormerod's scored for Blackpool, so if Forest lose and we win today the last game of the season could be very tasty indeed...

PLCs only exist to take profit out of the company and are no good for football clubs. What really sticks in my craw is the fact that Irving Scholar first did this at Tottenham 25 years ago the Football League just let him carry on, despite it being totally against the spirit of the regulations. They wouldn't take on people with deep pockets but they will exact vindictive punishment on those who cannot easily fight back like Luton, Bournemouth and now Saints. It will be interesting to see what the new owners do. Reviving the PLC or creating a new one would suggest they are out to make money - sometime in the future.

Let's hope Mark Fry's optimism is justified and, as long as the new owners aren't a bunch of opportunist chancers, then I'm sure they'll sweep out all the dross. That will mean bye bye Wotte and Gorre and I'll be only too happy to get behind whoever ends up in charge.

So if the administrators sell SFC to a third party to pay off SLH's debt and the new owners have the dosh to run SFC properly, we get our points back, right?

Near the end he also said "Southampton? Oh dear..."

Turkeys voting for Christmas and buying shares in Paxo is more likely! -
United??? I hate 'em!

Don't worry. At 5:30 p.m after beating Nottingham Forest 3-2 in real thriller and avoiding relegation by the skin of our teeth, the Football League will announce a 10 point deduction for entering administration...

To have someone in charge who understands football would be nice.

Hey, he could run out a few horses at Jackson's Farm!

With the current team, what would be the point?

We will be taken over by (you fill in the blank) and a Dubai-financed consortium who's only concern is building SFC gradually into the greatest team in the land... How about that then?

We will be taken over by Souness and a Dubai-financed consortium who's only concern is building SFC gradually into the greatest team in the land... Hey there's a pig flying outside my window!

Size is worth signing up and renew KD's contract if at all possible. All other choices I'll leave to the new manager (and hope that he is as astute as Nigel Pearson!)

As the man on BBC final score said "...Southampton just aren't good enough, nothing at the back, very little up front and seemingly no hope of survival." There needs to be so many changes if we are to avoid relegation next season. Please, please someone bring us some good news soon. :-(

Good point, Gemmel. I have to admit I had no idea who the chairman was before Lowe arrived. Shame he hasn't let anyone forget he was in charge ever since...

"The last thing we give up is hope." A Brazilian proverb, apparently, but it seems just right for Saints fans.

You've summed it up pretty well, there's only one thing I'd like to add - I think our team is actually better than they showed today. I reckon they perform like they do because of the head coach and his staff. He decides the tactics and formation, he picks the starting 11 and makes the subs. He is the motivator and he sets the tone in training. He has failed miserably on all counts. I doubt we'll be able to afford much in the way of new players next season (talk of billionaires is pie in the sky, most likely) so it is absolutely essential that we get the right coaching staff in and say goodbye for ever to Mr. Lowe's little experiment (oh, the blindness of arrogance). Good Friday? Pah!

Carlos Slim obviously wants to get his wallet open - he was allegedly interested in buying the Honda F1 team at one point. The lure of St Marys is greater than the idea of swanning around the world with the Grand Prix circus?
