  1. I don't think it makes much difference at all who the manager is if the current chairman and board stay in place. I'd go with Stuart Pearce from the choices here.
  2. The responsibility for our current situation lies with one person, and one person alone, crazy or not.
  3. My name is Leslie Charteris and I write fiction for a living. That makes me perfect for this forum, even though I've been dead for years.
  4. You are all forgetting that Lowe is utterly convinced that he is right and everyone else is wrong. A few fans letting off steam after or before a match will not change him. Fans are a plebby inconvenience that have to be accomodated to some extent because they are paying customers. Lowe is a man on a mission, he has a vision, nothing else matters - end of. He is Nero fiddling while Rome burns. A buyout is the only way to get shot of him and, unfortunately, I don't have enough money and those that do don't seem interested.
  5. Under Bransgrove, HCC have moved forwards and upwards. It would be no surprise if they won a major trophy in the near future. Under Lowe, SFC have slowly but surely spiralled downwards, despite the nice new ground. It would be no surprise if we were playing League 2 football in the not so distant future. There is no comparison. If the positions were reversed, we would probably still be playing Premiership football. As it is, I can see no positive outcomes from the current situation.
  6. Sadly, nothing the fans do will make any difference. There will be no change until the three major shareholders sell up to someone who cares or has some money to invest. League 2 - here we come (do you think we're better than Leicester?)
  7. John Arlott was never a token Hampshireman - born and raised in Basingstoke, he had a proper 'ampshire accent. David Vine will be sorely missed, I can hardly believe he retired in 2000. He was on the telly for as long as I can remember.
  8. If Large Saeijs can stop us shipping goals, I think you're right! (It's late, but my glass is still half full!)
  9. Where were we then Rupert, where are we now? You refused to take any responsibility for our current position at the AGM. So where does the blame lie? (I wouldn't bank on a large Saeijs addition to our defence guaranteeing CCC survival!)
  10. The Final Score summariser said there was some "excellent defending from Southampton." I haven't heard that said in a while! Here's hoping...
  11. NAMG do have some fingers in interesting pies, don't they... "PRIVATE HOUSE, ISLE OF WIGHT. A private house for someone famous. Involves & garage for one's Learjet." One of their current projects, along with... "MAIDENHEAD F.C. Proposals to redevelop the existing football ground into residential & a new replacement stadium." I'm sure TCDAJFU :smt044
  12. "If Rupert Lowe got football, got the proles who pay him to watch it, got the reasons why he's unpopular, he wouldn't be in the hole he's in now." Says it all. Rupert Lowe is a bean counter, end of. He never was, is not now and never will be a football man. He is someone who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. There is no hope until he leaves... permanently.
  13. It's not all doom and gloom. I think we have just the right coach for the Blue Square Premier league and some players that will excel there, too. This must be what his lordship has had in mind all along - playing there we can get on a sound financial footing, nothing else matters. Low wage costs and 12,000 mugs still coming through the turnstiles every week - you'd never forget the loyal fanbase, would you your lordship. Can you imagine how impressed the opposition will be walking onto the St. Mary's turf. They will just roll over the way we did today. The phoenix will rise from the ashes and SFC will carve its way through the leagues to compete again at the highest level and we can all worship the greatness of his lordship. "I've done it!" his lordship will ejaculate and with a satisfied grin he will change his soiled underwear and wave to the happy throng gathered in SMS. WAKE UP RUPERT - THIS IS NOT A DREAM, IT'S A NIGHTMARE! I do not want to see Saints playing in league one or worse. Your plan may have some sense if you are a bean counter but it makes no sense to a FOOTBALL fan. You seem hellbent on doing what's right for the shareholders. Please, just for once, do what is right for the club, the team, the supporters. Think of SFC, not SLH. But then, I suppose we should just trust in you, Rupert. You always know what's best!
  14. Got to be Stoke then - it is a Saints old boys club after all!
  15. But now he is cup-tied which must reduce his value and/or Premiership interest in him.
  16. Holloway made some interesting observations throughout the match. I liked the one where he said that he'd seen us a few times and we play some pretty stuff in the middle of the park but we can't score and we can't defend and we're going to struggle... Get him in, Rupert!
  17. The stat that counts: 2 goals 0
  18. Seasons greetings to one and all. My sauceometer is telling me it's time for bed or Santa will go straight on by... :drinkers:
  19. Would Chorley have got all this abuse if he'd slapped a custard pie in Lord Luvaduck's face? I doubt it. I think he was trying to make a serious point and I do admire his committment to the cause. The self-righteous piece on the OS about the incident sums up the rights and wrongs of the whole thing for me. I have never met Richard Chorley, so I only know him from Saints forums and I am not condoning or condemning his actions, but it does seem that some people are too far up there own ar5es to make a fair comment.
  20. There is a big difference between aiming a coin from the stands and chucking a handful of change in someone's lap shouting "Judas" or whatever. Can anyone describe exactly what happened?
  21. Tolerance and understanding of what, exactly? (Did I miss some irony?)
  22. I don't think he had a choice. I still can't understand why Lord Luvaduck still has the support of so many on the board and of so many shareholders. I can only suppose that his lordship and his acolytes have been promised a big payday sometime in the future. Who would do that? Who could do that and why?
  23. I keep telling you, their goal's over THERE!
  24. But would he be thinking "... what have I done?"
  25. If only my talent was this big...
