Never mind what Plymouth, Charlton or any of the other teams do. We have to win 7 or 8 of the remaining 14 games to have any real hope of staying up. On current form, that's about as likely as an asteroid strike - and if that happened, at least we wouldn't care!

Peter Reid for Manager - campaign needed..
Leslie Charteris replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
Is my memory playing tricks with me, or wasn't he going to be unveiled as our manager once after Branfoot went but he bottled it at the last moment? Anyway, I don't think he would or could work with HRH Lowe. -
Lowe's biggest mistake has been thinking that he knows anything about football.

why buy saints when you could get a prem club for a snip?
Leslie Charteris replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
There is only one reason the club has not been bought and that's the people who control the majoritory of the shares will not sell. -
I don't think Wotte would know how to score in an Amsterdam brothel! ...but then he'd have the excuse "We have no money!"
-
Seven wins, where are they going to come from? Goals, who is going to score them? Even Charlton have scored more than we have, oh, and we've shipped 50 goals. The future is hardly rosy.

In the meantime, we get this from the OS... "Captain Kelvin Davis saved a penalty, but couldn't save Saints as they put up a strong fight in a thriller at Ashton Gate..." Can't say I was especially thrilled.

If we draw, then there's hope. If not...

...or delusional. Take your pick!

I don't even know what ITK means! Raising season ticket prices towards Premier League levels seems like a dumb idea to me. It's hardly the thing to win over wavering supporters.

what should we expect from a manager..
Leslie Charteris replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
From the OS "...we have to ensure that we don't concede a goal and are more clinical with our finishing. If we can improve our way of playing in both boxes then I think we will get better results." There you have it. What more could you want? -
Ron scored the winner the very first time I went to the Dell - a typical rocket header - something that will remain with me forever. Thanks Ron and thanks exit for posting the article. I'm glad to hear he still seems happy, I don't think many of today's prima donnas would deal with reduced circumstances with such grace and good humour.

Things the commentators have NOT said about Saints this season

".. and another set piece is snuffed out by the solid Saints defence." -
if portsmuff can do it why cant we?
Leslie Charteris replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
Sad, but all too true... and we have a board that considers extracting value for the shareholders more important than anything else. Pity us poor "customers". -
Saints Greatest XI - The Best Managers Nominations
Leslie Charteris replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
Little there for me to argue with. I'd just add Chris Nichol = 3rd with WGS. It was fun watching when he was in charge and we haven't had a lot of that lately. -
An observation or a personal statement?

Frank, you so often say what I am thinking - only better. Thank you!

"A full press conference will be held on Monday at St Mary's Stadium." I hope the press ask some serious questions or some good news is announced. I hope, but...

He believes absolutely that he is right in everything he does - the old Harry Gration interview showed that. He is Nero fiddling. Rome is burning. Help! Somebody help!

"The finances at the club though have shown that it doesn't always matter what the player wants. Sometimes money dictates. "Hopefully I'll stay here though. I want to stay, and I enjoy playing for Southampton Football Club." I hope that this isn't the OS softening us up for Kelvin's sale before the end of the month. If that happens, all the fighting spirit in the world won't save us...
