  1. In stead of a lot of sycophantic nonsense at last a post which is realistic and probably right on the button.
  2. What about, in addition, the £10.50 each time you park for a cup match of any description or do you prefer not to consider that. Thanks for calling me weird you arrogant idiot just because you don't agree with my comments. If you had bothered to read previous posts you will know that because of age I have severe problems walking to the ground.
  3. Couldn't agree more. By the time we get down from Andover during the rush hour thru the jams at Winchester and then now have to mess about parking a fair way from the ground we probably won't bother. That means a loss of 3 tickets from long standing fans who bought a car parking ticket last year for £130 and attended 100 % of all matches at home including every friendly and 75 % of all away games. The hassle involved getting to Northam when you live a fair way away outweighs the pleasure.
  4. I'm sorry I just do not believe that is true anymore. We are in a deep recession and money and particularly credit is very tight. There will be a point when even die hard fans and I think I fall into this category, will be forced to say that it is now just too expensive to continue. Most other business are slashing prices to stay in business. I find it extremely hard to understand the way the Chairman thinks that cost to supporters can rise i.e.Parking,booking fees etc without an adverse reaction. Personally I think that there are many supporters out there who are close to calling it a day. Not because they want to but the cost is more than they can cope with. I have spoken to a number of fans who had paid parking permits last season and the 100% reaction is that they will not be buying at the greatly increased price and if they had known this in advance they would have thought twice about renewing their season ticket. This is sad and I think the chairman is treading a very dangerous path. Once people go they do not come back. Pleae Mr C do not take the fans for granted or think they can be exploited. There is plenty of evidence in recent years to suggest that you will be making a big mistake.
  5. I umderstand it is the club as they say that they need to charge this greatly hiked price to cover the costs. I find this hard to accept as I cannot believe that our old friend Rupert would have subsidised fans parking. I'm sorry to say that Cortese seems to be making the same mistakes as Lowe. He appears to have very little understanding or regard for the rank and file fan. With a decent run in any of the cups parking could rise from £130 to between £250 and £350. If I had known this I would have not renewed my season ticket. What will happen if we get promoted to the Championship I hate to think.
  6. Last season I paid £130 for the season for all games. This year it is £200 plus £10.50 per cup game. No thanks. Im getting on now and if I find the walk to the ground too much this will be my last season as a supporter after 55 years. This club will soon put people like me out of their price range !!
  7. I think Lambert is playing great. He wins most balls in the air and holds the ball up very well. In addition he is leathal from free kicks and his work ethic is impressive. IMO we are lucky to have him and as long as Pardew protects him and that is easier said than done (maybe sub him where possible) he will and has already given our club a new dimension.Every club in the league would love him in their team.
  8. Happy New Year and particularly to Saint Marcus from Andover
  9. It is unusual for a match shown on Sky on a Wednesday to kick off at 7p.m. I wonder if the time is actually correct or if it was published before Sky decided to show the match.
  10. A couple of weeks ago I was demanding that James should be out of the team as he was simply not good enough. I am delighted to eat my words. He has found some pretty impressive form since moving into midfield and has been up there with the best in recent games. I was wrong about this lad. He had another cracker today.
  11. Sorry but Lloyd James is just not good enough and hasn't been all season wherever he has played. He is honest and IMO tries hard but that is not enough by a long way in this team. Now that Murty is back I would expect to see Lloyd James disappear off the radar one way or another. However Connolly is simply a revelation. Not only his undoubted class but also his prodigious work rate. 10/10 for me today.
  12. This sort of post makes my blood boil. You are the pathetic one mate. Do you seriously expect a team to go without the odd blip. That is what today was and I'm sure everyone would have learnt from this. Everyone but you probably!!
  13. I couldn't agree more. Hoddle was a huge success last time he was here. If he hadn't been such a good manager there wouldn't have been such a furore when he decided to go to Spurs. I would be ecstatic if he came back.
  14. This is the best post on the whole of the forum. I hope that it is read by some of the players. There is absolutely no doubt that the only loyalty now in football is the fans and we should never forget this. I wouldn't give one penny to pay the wages of the present lot and sadly if the club goes out of business that is too bad. It is not my fault. I have attended 90% of the matches home and away and have continued to show my support by buying my season ticket even when I was vehemently against the way the club was being run.
  15. Dead right. However if there is not major changes do you really want to pay good money to watch that lot playing next season albeit in a lower division. For the best part they are simply not good enough and will continue to struggle. Football is part of the entertainment business and you pay to be entertained.
  16. That would be definately preferable than the return of Lowe. There was a time when it would have been unthinkable for someone as devisive and universally hated as Lowe to get back in but I have been absolutely amazed what has happenned in recent years and nothing would surprise me now. I can only say that if Lowe comes back in any capacity I vow that I will never set foot in St Marys again and that is coming from someone who has an unbroken period as a supporter home and away of over 55 years. If a future consortium is reading these posts please take my threat seriously because make no mistake there are many many thousands of fans who would take the same action as me. You have been warned!
  17. Quite right and in my opinion you cant say it too often. I'm fed up with the " oh no not again brigade". We should never ever forget the damage Rupert Lowe did to this great club
  18. Just back from the game and all the way back I have been thinking about the way we have plummeted down the football ladder. I know that there are people on this forum who seem to have a problem accepting where the blame lays but there is only really one place for the blame and that is Lowe. He will forever have a place in the history of this once great club ( I have been a supporter for 55 years) as the bloke who brought the club to it's lowest ever point. We will rise from the ashes but never again must someone like Lowe be allowed to occupy such a position of power. I could spend hours going into why he was such a disaster but it has been said many times before on this forum. Please God he is gone forever but true Saints fans remain and we will continue to get this club back on it's feet. It might take time and there is no doubt now that we are relegated but we will return in due course and with luck we will be stronger and will learn from the catalogue of mistakes and mismanagement of recent years. Finally many congratulations to Leicester City and especially Nigel Pearson. But for Lowe this talented and charismatic manager would have stayed with us.
  19. That's as maybe but my point is the total disregard for the customer.
  20. Wanted 2 tickets for tomorrow night as I can now go but if Watford think I am going to drive all the way down without a guarantee of getting a ticket they are mad. Tried to purchase by calling Watford box office this afternoon but was told that they had no intention of selling any tickets to Saints supporters over the phone, only on the turnstile, as their "system doesn't allow" What ever that means! This could only happen in football where once again we see another example of the customer not mattering. If it was any other form of enrtertainment they would be grabbing my hand off! These clubs deserve what they get. It won't be long before they, like many other clubs, will be pleading poverty. I'm totally disgusted !!
  21. Well said ! Lets show Lowe what we think of him. It's our club
  22. When I read this assessment of McGoldrick's performance today I fear that either the guy was not in the stadium or is one of the lad's relations. Not for the first time he never raised sweat throughout the whole 90 minutes. He has a seriouis attitude problem and it's up to the coaching staff to put him right. If ever a footballer deserved a big kick up the backside then this is the man. He is taking his wages under false pretences! Come on Wotte read him the riot act.
  23. Not our day but no disgrace. The lads tried hard against a very big robust Birmingham side who to my eye looked destined for a quick trip back to the Premiership. Some of our players looked overawed i.e. LLoyd James, and Patterson but I thought that we maintained our recent improved form to be beaten by just one goal. It's just that we met a team of a much higher stature and ability. Personally I could see absolutely nothing wrong with Wotte's tactics or substitutions. He tried a number of things to try and get that valuable goal with no success. However don't knock the man for tryiing to ring the changes. No complaints from me! After the final whistle the lads looked very dejected which shows they now really care. I hope that Woote can get them back up for Tuesday when I hope and expect them to take it out on the club that I despise - DERBY COUNTY. COYR
  24. Why do we have to fear anyone. We are playing as well as anyone in the division. I bet Birmingham are nervous about playing us on Saturday. Get yourself up to St Andrews and give the lads the sort of loud support they deserve and we will come away with another 3 points. By the way I still hate Lowe ! COYR
  25. Well done Jim Magilton. Compare his comments with the miserable carping of Dave Jones on Saturday.
