I dont doubt he needed to sell - he did. He sold FIVE 1st team players and raised 40-50m in the process. But he was also allowed to sign players and spent 20-30m in his 3 years at Espanyol. Not exactly the "surviving on scraps" and "all his best players sold" myth that is peddled on here is it.

Mopo having to sell his best players and survive on scraps is another SWF myth - in 2009/10 he sold players raising £5m and signed players worth £5.1m In season 10/11 he spent £10m on players including Jesús Dátolo, Sergio García, Pablo Osvaldo and Felipe Mattioni. He sold only three 1st team players raising 11.5m In the 11/12 season he again spent money - £7m in fact and signed Héctor Moreno and Juan Ángel Albín. He again sold just three 1st team players which included Jesús Dátolo and Pablo Osvaldo which he had signed the year before. I include Jesús Dátolo as 1st team player - however he only ever played 15x for Espanyol So over the 3 years he sold just FIVE 1st team players and spent over £20m on players in. He was sacked in 2012 with Espanyol rock bottom - the same players have since jumped to mid table under Javier Aguirre

Players leave for money - they tend to spin it with "I just want to play champions league" Wanyama had champions league football + league titles + cup wins at Celtic - but left that behind for money. The main reason any player moves club = money

I agree with adrian. It would not be possible for him/anyone to have passion or commitment for a club you didnt support. He should therefore join Man United as thats the club he supports
