Spent the first half an hour looking for a working stream but sounds pretty dire. IPTV - what's the deal? Whats the playlist and channel I need?

Everyone can see we need a striker. Ralph was promised a striker in the summer and probably lost his job as the higher powers messed around and let him down. With a good striker we would probably be at least 6 points better off, and the attendances wouldn’t be dropping. This is really not the time to be messing around and haggling over pennies. Fingers crossed there’s something happening very soon as this is so damaging to the club. (cue superstar signing tomorrow…)!

When you score some of the chances you’re given the team can play a bit more freely. Currently the team is missing and missing and look on edge as they don’t want to lose. New striker or someone who can actually put the ball in the net with a decent chance and the team will hopefully all relax a bit.

Well Nicolas Jackson is an exciting attacking talent, likely to get us goals and excite the crowd, but he’s not the 5th choice centre back we apparently desperately need…
-
We finally got rid of Stephens and Bednarek and now have 3 better centre backs in ABK, DCC and Salisu. Them with Lyanco and a youngster should be fine IMO. It’s not like Bednarek or Stephens are playing well since their loans - they can’t get a game for teams who are only a few points better off than us. After a striker, I’d concentrate on a big powerful DM, who could possibly slot in at CB in an emergency rather than recall 4th/5th/6th choice players…

For me, he picked a different team to what we’d seen fail previously, and it didn’t work, but at least he mixed it up a bit. A start for Edozie was welcome and he generally played well, and that was a positive. On the other hand, I would never play Lyanco over Bella-Kotchap, and if ABK is not trusted, it’s got to be Caleta Car next up. I thought Lyanco was ok yesterday, but he doesn’t have the positional discipline without 2 others with him (and I hate the 3 / 5 at the back). One thing I’ve noticed this season is KWP has been an absolute shadow of last few seasons - barely getting forward / attacking at all. There was a point where every game he was in our top 3 or 4 performers, but this season has been pretty anonymous. That coupled with a drop off of JWP, and that’s 2 of our most consistent and senior players form seemingly dropping off a cliff, almost as if they didn’t want to go to the World Cup (obviously KWP was injured). The real killer of the season though is the lack of a good striker - we’re still desperate for an Ings replacement to play off / with Adams. Adams is very good at winning the ball back and breaking forward but has never been a good finisher, and we don’t create anywhere near enough to have him as our main goal scorer. A Armstrong hasn’t worked and needs to be moved on, and a proper finisher brought in. How many chances that have fallen to Armstrong, Adams or another would’ve been buried by Ings? A few of those misses turning to goals and everything would be far rosier and a few of those defeats would’ve been wins or draws and it’s a different picture. It feels like the fan base have written off the season which seems ridiculous when only 2 points away from West Ham in 16th, and only a couple more back from Bournemouth in 14th, and over 20 games to play! Plenty to play for, let’s get behind them and hopefully see Jones bringing an upturn in form in the near future!!

I guess it depends who he uses going forward. All 4 of those (and Lavia) IMO should be starting most games (at least Mara over AA until we get someone better!), but there's just a feeling based on the stuff from Luton that he prefers the more experienced players with only a couple of youngsters in the team. Let's see! Guess I was expecting a little more change last night, but the team was basically the same as that which has failed through the season. Fingers crossed he can bring an upturn in form!

I'm also quite concerned about this - effectively writing off 80% of our summer transfer dealings, and a big thing which has brought us success in the past. There's also been constant talk from the owners and managements about not being financially able to buy ready-made experienced players, and having to hone younger / unproven players into great players. Then we get last night, where not a single youngster (excluding Edozie - already one of our best players, who still cant get a start) even makes the bench against a mid-table League One team. Maybe it's just as wanted to get all the senior players some minutes, but hopefully we wont be seeing same old sh*t every week and some 30+ year old injury prone rejects from a mid-table premier league team being brought in on big money as our saviour January signings... Feels a bit 2005 currently, but keeping fingers crossed these concerns are soon flushed away!!

3 CBs - pre season experiment or long term change?
disconnect replied to Dusic's topic in The Saints
This is 100% true with KWP - his link up play with Armstrong or Aribo down the right is often very impressive and always looks like our most dangerous attacking outlet with the little 1-2's, running round the back and getting a cross in or driving into the box. Not sure if there was much of that last night, but was his first game back for a while so may not have been going all out. -
Away to Birmingham tomorrow (midday KO) for the penultimate group game of the PL Cup. Saints already through as group winners. Wonder if it'll be a standard B team, a lot of younger players (as already through) or a mix with some first team players getting minutes ready for the return of league football?

Fraser’s due a good game, so maybe a one game loan would be good…
-
Kane has said he's fully fit and had no issues following his knock in the Iran game. If that was a fully fit performance vs USA we're really in trouble, especially as we know Southgate will pick him whether he can run or not. Rumours are that Henderson is coming in tonight(!), but presumably we'll see probably 8 or 9 of the same starters as the last two matches... Senegal to beat Ecuador, who may be without Enner Valencia?

From the first minute, looks like he's great at assisting people to miss. In which case, he'd fit in perfectly here. Sign him up!

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25

Good news, thought he looked very promising from the few pre-season and B team games. Also, bonus points for a good interview and not saying "I'm buzzing to be fair"!! -
Well if we sell him to a Brazilian club, it's quite unlikely we'll get very much for him. Sao Paulo's record signing was 9 millions Euros 10 years ago, and Vasco da Gama arent even in the top flight...

Thanks - used to be good on hesgoal but struggled since! Thanks

Thanks. Can’t get it to work on iPad / iPhone though. Nevermind!

Saints 1-1 (p6-5) Sheffield Wednesday - Match Thread
disconnect replied to Picard's topic in The Saints
Is that Nico(?) Lawrence, the centre back we signed from a non-league team sometime in the last year? ABK, Lavia and Adams all just being rested to not risk knocks before Liverpool? Good to see Edozie and Mara starting. -
In the one position we're probably best stocked! 🤣 Perraud, KWP, Larios, Djenepo, then further down Small, J-Rod II, Meghoma etc...
-
Looks like he missed out on the Croatia squad for the World Cup, with the returning to fitness Lovren preferred.

Saw a few posts about Jones utilising youth. Just looked through the Luton stats and the youngest player to start more than 5 games this season for them is 24 and they havent played anyone under 21 all season. This could be just as they're not very good, but I dont think promoting youth is one of his selling points, so seems a bit of a way away from our high risk transfer policy of the summer. Now watch his first match be played with the record youngest team we've ever fielded! 🤣
-
It was getting to the point where a lot of people thought it was time for Ralph to move on - now we're suddenly praying he comes back!!! I guess Wolves were given permission to speak to a few people and in the end actually got a good manager in. In this case though it sounds pretty likely that if he wants it, Jones will become our new manager. As someone else said, feels like a Dell-sized appointment, when a lot of things (bar the monumental cock up of not getting a new striker in) seems to have shown Sports Republic as better than that. It feels a bit like we're trying to be too clever all the time (sign the best youngest players who will be amazing in a few years time, appoint the manager who's done well on a shoe-string budget etc), but not sure that works in the Premier League... I'll give him or whoever my full support and keep my fingers crossed it's a masterstroke and not a disaster.
-
Well Gallardo would be a real statement of intent, Jones would be a real cheap option. I know which I'd like, and which the board will like...
