Not really - the pub could choose. There have been non-smoking pubs for ages - The New Inn in Salisbury springs to mind - and they were very successful. As you rightly point out, not everyone wants to breathe secondhand smoke.

I think everyone here has just forgotten that pubs are just so bloody EXPENSIVE now. I'm sure that that is one of the main reasons for their demise - it's just much cheaper to stay home and drink now, and most people do.

Webchat a bit slow today - must be being extra careful to make it a scummer-free zone.

09.45 Saints draw Reading leading Pompey 1-0 with 8? mins left. I have just caught myself saying "come on Pompey" for the first time ever. I feel dirty.

Oh noes! It's the long overdue crash of which you speak!

Where is this email then? If it's leaked, surely you should be able to read it. When this bloke writes it I hope he remembers to spell-check.

Indeed, Bradford Park Avenue (ex 1st Division club) were liquidated in 1974. Just to cheer Pompey fans up, the reformed club has only taken 38 years to make it all the way back to the Northern Premier League.

I quite agree with your last paragraph - this should be the minimum punishment, after all Crystal Palace did not suffer relegation as punishment for their administration and only offered 1p in the £ in their CVA. Regarding QPR, I hope you stay up but you should advise your new recruits not to grab opponents by the throat or kick 'em up in the air.

The wealthy Hammers are Gold and Sullivan. I've a feeling that they might be a tad tired of giving football clubs large sums of money. Mind you, if they don't get promoted I've a feeling that they're the next club in the brown stuff, they seem to be following a quality AND quantity policy which could backfire spectacularly.

He'll be OK once we get him fit.

The bare fact is that TB needs £1/2m by April or the club will be liquidated. He asked for any ideas on how to raise funds from the fan base. Obviously pack the park is one but other ideas and fund raising schemes will be needed to help. Every penny goes to the club and it’s rescue. Anybody know if £1/2m means £1 to 2million or half a million? Could be either. Stupid skate can't even make that clear.

If we go up and Blackburn get relegated I can see NA making a bid for Paul Robinson. The fact that he's conceded 59 goals and has no clean sheets this season does not make him a bad keeper. He is very experienced at PL level and still young enough to give years of service. I'd still retain Kelvin and Bart though and pay off Forecast.

Ah, so most of that lot down the road must be misunderstood geniuses then. Got it.

Even a genuine one (Gibson Les Paul Studio) only costs a grand brand new.

I haven't seen this blog posted on here - apologies if it has been, but it is a really good potted history of Saints since relegation from the PL. An excellent read. http://swissramble.blogspot.com/2012/01/southampton-saints-alive.html

Having watched Pompey's slow-motion train crash to obscurity, I was amused to see Madjeski sitting next to the latest Russian "businessman" to infect the English Leagues. Are Reading fans going to blame the FL or Madjeski when it all goes tits up. Be afraid Reading fans, be very afraid. http://rumafia.com/person.php?id=204 Of course, it's not this character, it's his son. Familiar?

Curbishley's a bit like Keegan I think. Doesn't like it when it gets a bit too hot in the kitchen.

Pr@t - is Lowe back yet?

That was SLH, not the club.

AllMouth Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 12:41 PM This story is an April Fool, I'm convinced. Is it any coincidence that Keith Gregory is an exact anagram of 'Deluded lunatic loves seeing name in the papers'? I thought not. PS - don't read anything into the fact he is 'from Hampstead'. I used to live there and I don't have a pot to p1ss in. Genius

CS, I thought you'd added the bit in red for a laugh, but it's actually there!
