I think van Hanegem even said he was worried about his physicality in the prem. I suppose we just needed shot of him in the end. His wages were always going to be massive for the Dutch league. Still paying a % of his wages is fair enough as it's only 1 year & he's absolutely nowhere near the 1st team. *Sigh* I remember Kante being linked that summer too!

The point that I really liked was the approach to 'what can you get for 300k' when comparing players for the 1st team vs academy recruitment. So true. If 1 or 2 really catch fire than the potential returns are massive.

It’s an unusual situation where one of our big players has asked to leave & we’ve said “yeah, ok” - But the interest hasn’t been what he (& us) would want. He’s not been great but has his moments. Bit of a YouTube player. I’m sure we would love to sell him, but don’t see any of these large valuations being met.
