Jeremy Wilson's excellent piece on last summer is always worth a re-visit...

Yeah, getting Austin for £10m would be great business. The only thing I'm not sure about because I've not seen enough of him is how his hold-up play is.
Hell of a finisher (with both feet too). His goal @ St Mary's this season was quality.
I re-watched that video just the other day actually and whilst we had a bit of a 'mare, the one thing we can't ever legislate for (and this relates to this summer) is when players throw their dummies out of the pram and demand to leave.

Well, it's an upgrade over Cardiff from last summer.
Agree, £10m for the 4th top scorer in the prem is great value.
I like it when we still go in for players we've been linked from the old days - Fair play to Austin for making the jumps up the league.

BALAGUE ON ALVES
Convinced D. Alves will remain at Barcelona. By the way, his form in the last 2 months, on the way to end of his contract, is outstanding

ALVES CLOSE TO MAN UTD DEAL?
Manchester United are very close to confirming a deal for Barcelona right-back Dani Alves, according to Catalan newspaper Sport.
The paper report that the player will snub Barca after United offered him a contract that was ‘far superior’ to the one on the table from the Spanish club.
The 32-year-old is available on a free transfer as his contract at the Nou Camp expires this summer.
I'd certainly take him on loan for a year. Can't image LvG wanting to give Koeman any favours, but possibly could take him on loan as part of a prospective deal for Clyne.
